Bertha looked at the contestants' expectant faces and said with a smile,
"My rules are simple. The two contestants who take the least time to make Golem move back or break through his defenses will advance!"
The Johto contestants exchanged glances, seeing the delight in one another's eyes.
A Ground- and Rock-type Pokémon like this was far too easy to counter!
Water, Grass, Fighting!
Any Pokémon of those types could deal tremendous damage to their opponent!
They had this round in the bag!
Even if they had no Water-, Grass-, or Fighting-type Pokémon, one that could use moves of those three types would do!
For a moment, the Johto contestants rubbed their hands together, already itching to get started.
Yong silently shook his head.
Even he had known to start training Steelix and the others' water resistance as soon as possible. That training was still ongoing today. As a Ground-type member of the Elite Four, Bertha was even less likely to leave Golem with such a glaring weakness.
Though effective training was not as powerful as the talents granted by the system, it could still greatly reduce a Pokémon's weaknesses.
Most importantly, Bertha had never said Golem would not use moves!
But when Bruno was the first to step onto the field, Yong silently added,
Except for this guy!
Bruno laughed, rubbing the back of his head as he said,
"When I felt Golem's tremendous strength from the sidelines, I couldn't help coming out here! Hahahaha!"
Bertha smiled faintly, her eyes lighting up as she said,
"It's the Fighting boy. I'm looking forward to your performance. If it's you, there shouldn't be a problem!"
Bruno took out a Pokémon Ball, his face brimming with excitement. His long black hair, tied behind his head, swayed freely.
"I won't disappoint you, Bertha!
