Personality

Zhu Zhuyun treats talented younger sisters as threats to her future position. Learning that Zhu Zhuqing has a mutated martial soul and apparent innate level-eight soul power immediately prompts her decision to eliminate her. Even when Zhu Zhuqing disclaims any interest in becoming empress, Zhuyun insists that only her sister’s death can remove the competition 4 25.

She disguises hostility as affection, offering reassuring smiles and gifts while planning surveillance or violence. She also manipulates accusations and witnesses to present herself as the injured party 4 5 18 19.

Her arrogance extends to allies and subordinates: she threatens Zhu An and Zhu Long with arrows when they hesitate to obey her. Nevertheless, she backs down when political support or personal safety is at risk, yielding to Uncle Fu before the Emperor’s arrival and later abandoning the forest pursuit 6 24 25.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Zhu Zhuqing’s Awakening and Family Celebration

Zhu Zhuyun’s hostility begins when Zhu Zhuqing’s reported talent appears capable of challenging her position. Believing the displayed “Nether White Cat” is weak, she mocks her sister and attempts to place a tracking bracelet on her. Zhuqing’s rejection of the gifts leads to a confrontation interrupted by Zhu Zhufeng and Uncle Fu 4 5 6.

At the celebration, Zhuyun and Dai Weisi send a young prince to harass Zhuqing. When Zhuqing fights back, Zhuyun demands that she kneel and apologize. Later that night, Zhuqing narrowly escapes a blood-red arrow attributed to Zhuyun and seeks shelter with Zhu Zhulin 7 9.

Lightning Wind Tiger Ambush and Punishment Hall

During Zhuqing’s first soul-ring hunt, Zhuyun shoots at her from the trees. Zhuqing draws the Lightning Wind Tiger toward her hiding place, forcing all three sisters into a running fight. Zhuyun wounds Zhuqing with a kick but suffers a dagger injury to her foot 15 16.

Back at the clan, Zhuyun accuses her sisters of stealing a Soul Bone and displays apparently uninjured feet to undermine their account. Zhuqing exposes a character carved into Zhuyun’s right third toe during the fight, proving the ambush. Despite the elders’ pleas, Zhu Xinglong finds her guilty but imposes only one month of confinement and revokes her annual allowance. The clan takes the Soul Bone and grants all three sisters a request 18 19.

Pursuit and Defeat

After Zhuqing and Zhulin leave the clan a year later, Zhuyun uses a family favor to secure Zhu An and Zhu Long’s assistance in pursuing them. She attacks Zhuqing while Zhulin is absorbing her third soul ring 20 24.

Their mental attacks initially clash evenly, but Zhuqing reveals the Chaos White Tiger’s bloodline pressure and overwhelms Zhuyun’s martial soul. Spared but stripped of her beads and storage bracelet, Zhuyun plans further retaliation before retreating on her escorts’ warning of danger in the forest 25.
