In response to Shoko Ieiri's greeting, Satoru Gojo raised a hand to his chin and stared at her as he approached, step by step.
Shoko froze for a moment, instinctively raising a hand to stop Satoru Gojo's steadily approaching head. Under the influence of Limitless, however, her hand stopped in midair.
"You... haven't awakened a cursed technique?" Satoru Gojo asked in confusion.
One of the innate abilities of the Six Eyes was to see through the cursed techniques engraved within other people's bodies. At first glance, Satoru Gojo had noticed something different about Shoko's cursed energy. At second glance, he had seen straight through the fact that she had not awakened a cursed technique.
Hearing his question, Shoko calmly withdrew her outstretched hand and rested it lightly against her chest, while raising her other hand to remove the cigarette from her mouth.
"Yeah, I haven't awakened an [innate cursed technique], but I can use [Reverse Cursed Technique]," Shoko replied casually.
Despite having "cursed technique" in its name, Reverse Cursed Technique was not actually a cursed technique, but an exceptionally advanced method of manipulating cursed energy that could be learned and mastered.
Shoko possessed a very special talent in this area. A skill that others could spend their entire lives studying without figuring out had come to her with remarkable ease.
Satoru Gojo was stunned at first, then broke into an excited expression, as though dazzling stars had begun to sparkle in his azure eyes.
Seeing his reaction, Shoko merely smiled faintly before continuing, "What? You want to learn? I can teach you."
Satoru Gojo instantly turned serious. He straightened his back and brought his legs together, giving her his full attention.
Shoko cleared her throat softly. She bent one arm to examine it, then extended a finger on her other hand and leisurely waved it a short distance through the air from left to right.
"You just go [whoosh], then [fwip]. Well~ that's pretty much it. So, you get it, right?" Shoko said leisurely, gesturing as she spoke.
Watching Shoko's utterly abstract lesson, Satoru Gojo's serious expression instantly crumpled, and a vein bulged on his forehead. Inwardly, he wondered why he had even bothered taking her seriously.
"Huh? You don't get it? You really have no talent~"
"..."
As Shoko planted both hands on her hips and sighed after saying that, the corner of Satoru Gojo's mouth twitched.
It was not that Shoko was deliberately messing with Satoru Gojo-though there was a little of that mixed in. The main reason was that [Reverse Cursed Technique] really was that abstract.
In present-day Jujutsu Society, only two people were publicly known to have mastered this skill.
One was Shoko Ieiri, standing right before them.
The other was Yuki Tsukumo, who had recently been given the title of "Special Grade Sorcerer." Speaking of Yuki Tsukumo, she... never mind. That could wait until later.
Chinatsu walked slowly out from behind Satoru Gojo and up to Shoko, extending a hand with a smile.
"I'm Chinatsu. He's Satoru, from the Gojo Clan."
Chinatsu briefly introduced herself and Satoru Gojo, and Shoko extended her own hand to shake Chinatsu's.
"Shoko Ieiri. Just call me Shoko."
Although all three of them were already standing at the school gates, they still had not gone inside. Instead, they started chatting at the entrance.
While they chatted, Chinatsu lifted the large bag full of delicious food she had bought on the way and asked whether Shoko wanted a little something to eat.
Shoko had intended to decline, but the moment she saw the food inside the bag, her body betrayed her.
"Well, if you insist~"
Grinning, Shoko took some particularly appetizing-looking food from the bag. Just as she was about to try a bite, a muscular man strode out of the school with a fierce air.
"What are you doing out here?! You're already at the gates, so why aren't you coming inside?!"
At that shout, everyone jolted and turned toward the man who had called out.
Masamichi Yaga. He would be their homeroom teacher during their time at Jujutsu High.
They stopped standing around. At Masamichi Yaga's urging, they all jogged into the school.
The instant they passed through the gates and entered the school grounds, they sensed the presence of a "barrier." This was Jujutsu High's first line of defense, which would immediately sound an alarm if an unregistered outsider entered.
Chinatsu had thought she had long since prepared herself for attending school. She had even tried convincing herself that going to Jujutsu High would be fun, nothing like attending school in her previous life.
But now she had "classmates" beside her, a person called a "teacher" in front of her, and even that terrifying structure known as a "school" not far away.
A wave of fear rose from the depths of her mind. There were certainly people in this world who loved going to school, but Chinatsu knew she was absolutely not one of them.
Chinatsu let out a cool breath, her eyes darting from side to side as she tried to find some solidarity in Shoko and Satoru Gojo beside her.
But Shoko was as laid-back as ever, without the slightest trace of fear. As for Satoru Gojo, rather than afraid, he seemed nervous. At that moment, he was preparing himself to face Yaga head-on.
Chinatsu drew her gaze back and looked ahead again. Suguru Geto, the last first-year student, whom she had assumed was late, came into view.
He was not late at all. Quite the opposite: he had arrived very early and had already been waiting inside the school for Chinatsu and the others for over half an hour.
Masamichi Yaga adjusted his sunglasses with a gratified expression, thinking that at least there was one normal student among the first-years. In the future, he would use him as a model and try to bring the other problem students into line.
Chinatsu caught every bit of Masamichi Yaga's little train of thought. She lowered her head and sighed softly in resignation, observing three seconds of silence for their homeroom teacher.
A normal student?
Yaga, just give up.
I'm the only one here who has anything to do with normal. The others are each more abnormal than the last.
As Chinatsu thought this, she had no idea that, far in the future, someone would ask Yaga which of the students he had taught had possessed the most troublesome personality.
Yaga immediately picked up a bottle of beer, gulped down several mouthfuls, and answered without hesitation.
"Do you even need to ask? That girl, obviously!"
