The Gojo Clan's young master had no shortage of money, so when he saw the account number Mei Mei had sent him, he gritted his teeth and transferred the money.
Meanwhile, Miwa Chisei had no idea that her so-called "angelic big sister" had already used her to successfully extort Satoru Gojo.
Jujutsu High's school store was small but well stocked, and a very kindly old woman worked the register.
She wasn't surprised to see Miwa Chisei and even kindly threw in a boiled egg for free.
Holding the warm, oval object, Miwa Chisei felt warmth spread through her heart, too.
The old woman had probably been a Jujutsu Sorcerer in her youth. Miwa Chisei could sense Cursed Energy from her, which explained why she didn't find those red eyes strange.
After all, Jujutsu Sorcerers had seen far too many bizarre things.
They wouldn't fear her the way the people at her old school had.
There were several benches in the shade of the trees opposite the store. Miwa Chisei sat there and began eating her sandwich. The warmed banana milk was soothing, too, and a satisfied smile appeared on her face.
This place was more pleasant than she'd imagined.
Miwa Chisei was a little surprised. She'd expected somewhere cold and gloomy.
Just as she was dealing with the eggshell, she heard a startled voice.
"Miwa Chisei?!"
Miwa Chisei looked up rather listlessly. There were two times when she disliked being interrupted.
One was when she was eating; the other was when she was counting money.
The pink-haired girl before her had clearly hit a sore spot.
"What are you doing here?"
Miwa Chisei took a bite of her egg and looked away, making it clear that she had no interest in engaging with Miwa Riona.
Miwa Riona, however, thought the girl before her was utterly despicable. She'd acted as though she had no interest whatsoever in Jujutsu Society, yet she'd already sneaked off to Jujutsu High.
So she sneered.
"Don't you think you're shameless, Lady Qianxing? You pretend you're not interested, but deep down, you've been desperate to come to Jujutsu High, haven't you?"
The egg was delicious. The yolk was slightly soft, with a pleasantly runny center. Miwa Riona ought to thank that old woman, or Chisei would have already knocked her flat.
"Hit the nail on the head, didn't I? You can't even argue back!"
Miwa Riona's voice was rather shrill now, nothing like the gentle, easygoing manner she showed her classmates and teachers.
She hated Miwa Chisei. Not only was this girl the young lady of the Main Branch, but she had also displayed an astonishing level of skill in Jujutsu.
It was a good thing that Miwa Chisei didn't want to enter Jujutsu Society. If the Miwa family returned to Jujutsu Society, it only needed one gifted daughter.
Miwa Chisei would steal her spotlight and crush her ambitions.
From the first time she heard about this girl from her father, Miwa Riona had been unable to stop comparing herself to her, and that had gradually turned into resentment.
"You're so noisy."
After saying that, Miwa Chisei slipped the straw of her banana milk between her lips, her face expressionless.
Miwa Riona bit her lip until it went pale. That arrogant attitude was so infuriating.
Unfortunately, Miwa Riona had misunderstood. Miwa Chisei wasn't arrogant. Although she rarely showed much emotion, she was still a polite girl without any ill intentions.
Her dismissive attitude toward Miwa Riona simply meant she didn't want to deal with her.
To keep Miwa Riona from tormenting her ears any further, Miwa Chisei prepared to get up and leave, but Miwa Riona stepped forward and grabbed her arm.
The wound had scabbed over, but it still hurt, especially with the girl gripping it so hatefully.
Miwa Chisei's gaze swept over that fair, delicate hand, and her voice was flat.
"Let go."
"You were planning to come to Jujutsu High all along. Everything you said last time was just a lie, wasn't it? Miwa Chisei, is making a fool of people that much fun?"
Miwa Chisei thought the girl before her, no longer able to maintain her gentle expression, did indeed look a little like a snarling monkey.
"What does it have to do with you? We barely know each other."
She couldn't even be bothered to waste her breath explaining. She truly couldn't understand why this girl from the branch family always flew into a rage around her.
Shouldn't she be the angry one? Weren't the branch family responsible for both her father's death and that arrogant demand for the Sun and Moon Charm?
What had she done? What had her father done?
At that thought, Miwa Chisei shook her arm free without mercy. The motion carried Cursed Energy, sending Miwa Riona stumbling back several steps.
"So that's all you've got." Miwa Riona steadied herself, assessing the strength Miwa Chisei had just used.
Miwa Chisei seemed weak in combat. Was her divination Jujutsu the only thing she was good at?
That was another misunderstanding. She'd fought herself half to death just yesterday and had only just been healed. Her Cursed Energy was still recovering.
Miwa Chisei thought Miwa Riona was stupid, so stupid that she didn't even want to deal with her, yet she insisted on pestering her.
So she raised her fingers, with several strands of pink hair wound between them. They belonged to Miwa Riona.
"That's right, I'm weak in combat. Why don't you try my divination Jujutsu, then?"
Just as Miwa Riona's handwriting could be used to divine her past and future, once divination Jujutsu and Cursed Energy reached a certain level, they could even alter the past and future of someone with less Cursed Energy and weaker Jujutsu than the user.
However, both the amount of Cursed Energy and the strength of the Jujutsu had to meet those conditions, so it wasn't easy to perform. After all, back in the era of the Four Great Families, the Miwa family had been famous for its weak Cursed Energy.
But Miwa Chisei's Cursed Energy ranked in the T1 tier even within Jujutsu Society.
Not to mention that they came from the same family and practiced the same Jujutsu. Miwa Chisei's control over it was certainly superior to Miwa Riona's.
"How about making it so you actually started losing your hair at ten? That would be a nightmare for someone from the Miwa family, wouldn't it?"
Miwa Chisei gave a rare hint of a smile, an eerily unsettling one.
Miwa Riona stared at those blood-red eyes. They were like those of a life-claiming demon from hell.
Humans had plenty of weaknesses. Judging by Miwa Riona's thick, soft, glossy long hair, she treasured it and took excellent care of it. Every time she used Judgment Jujutsu, she probably thought, You should feel honored to die by my hair.
Watching Miwa Riona's face turn deathly pale, Miwa Chisei gave the strands in her hand another shake.
"Still want to provoke me?"
"If you actually use Divination Reversal, you'll have to pay a hefty price, won't you?"
Miwa Riona gave a soft scoff, though cold sweat had already broken out on her back. She refused to believe Miwa Chisei would risk shortening her own lifespan just to make her bald.
Miwa Chisei looked as though she'd heard a joke. Her eyes swept over Miwa Riona, assessing something.
"Making someone at your level bald would only take a few days of resting at home to recover my Cursed Energy. Do you really think you could cost me years of my life?"
Those words belittled Miwa Riona, belittled her Cursed Energy and her skill in Jujutsu. Miwa Riona felt utterly humiliated, her whole body trembling with anger.
Miwa Chisei, meanwhile, looked as though she were staring at an idiot.
Miwa Riona, you're terrible at arguing. Why not try playing the victim next time?
