Ch. 76Misty Blue, My Eyes (Skip This Chapter if You Don't Want the Angst)

  • Genya dodged Tanjiro's Star Breathing attack and challenged him to train harder.
  • Haruto met Tamayo and Yushiro at Tamayo's Residence and agreed to undergo her dangerous experimental treatment.
  • Haruto asked Tamayo to cut off his head if he became something other than human, then gripped his butterfly pin as an anchor.

  • Haruto jolted awake in darkness with pain burning in his left palm.

Ch. 77Fellow Disciples

Haruto reported the effects of the failed potion experiment to Tamayo, while Genya explained demons and the Demon Slayer Corps to Tanjiro. Genya left to meet Haruto with a parcel from Nezuko and money for strawberry daifuku.

  • Haruto told Tamayo that his eyeballs had fallen out thirty-eight minutes after the injection, and she recorded the symptom before planning to reduce the amount of Genya's blood.
  • Genya told Tanjiro about demons and the Demon Slayer Corps, then admitted he was unsure whether he could join because he could not practice a Breathing Style.
  • Tanjiro hugged Genya when he sensed his sadness, and Genya pushed him away while insisting he was Tanjiro's senior disciple.
  • Cang Kong relayed Haruto's request for strawberry daifuku, and Genya took money from Haruto's pouch for the treats.
  • Tanjiro gave Genya a parcel of Minazuki made by Nezuko to take to Haruto, and Genya set off as Tanjiro and Nezuko watched.

Ch. 78The Sisters' Late-Night Talk

After three sleepless days caring for Haruto, Shinobu joined Kanae for a late-night conversation about her feelings for him and his family’s danger. Kanae helped her understand that Haruto had not rejected her, and Shinobu fell asleep reassured.

  • Shinobu finished caring for the patient from Suzuki, ate the sushi Kanae had left, and accepted Kanae’s invitation to share her bed.
  • Shinobu admitted she was angry that Lower Rank Three and Genya had revealed her feelings to Haruto before she had sorted them out.
  • Shinobu told Kanae that Haruto had explained an Oiran Foul Demon was targeting his family and that he could not consider romance until the demons were slain.
  • Kanae reasoned that Haruto’s explanation was not a rejection and said he had left Shinobu free to choose her own path.
  • Shinobu fell asleep beneath the blanket with a contented smile.

Ch. 79The Tsugikuni Bloodline

Haruto visited Kagaya Ubuyashiki and learned that the badly injured boy in his care was Muichiro Tokito, the last descendant of the Tsugikuni family. As Muichiro remained unconscious after surviving a demon attack that killed his brother, Kagaya and Haruto spoke about fate and the Demon Slayer Corps’ future.

  • Haruto, Sabito, and Giyu discussed the quiet demon activity and Kagaya’s illness while sharing Nezuko’s dried apricots.
  • Haruto visited the Corps headquarters, where Misaka Miki told him that Kagaya was recovering and that physicians had been summoned to save an injured child.
  • Kagaya introduced the unconscious boy as Muichiro Tokito, the last descendant of the Tsugikuni family, and explained Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s legacy and the loss of Sun Breathing.
  • Kagaya told Haruto that a demon had killed Muichiro’s brother, Yuichiro, before Muichiro held the demon down until sunrise.
  • Kagaya wondered whether Muichiro’s bloodline was an honor or a prison, and Haruto urged Kagaya not to lose faith in him.

Ch. 80The Swordsman Who Ruptured His Own Eardrums

At the autumn Hashira Meeting, Haruto met the new Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, and learned how quickly the boy had mastered swordsmanship. At Headquarters, Haruto reunited with Kyojuro Rengoku, who had ruptured his own eardrums to defeat a demon, and encouraged him to carry on the Rengoku Family’s Flame Breathing spirit.

  • Kagaya introduced Muichiro Tokito as the new Mist Hashira and revealed that he had learned swordsmanship in only two months.
  • Haruto and Sabito invited Muichiro to eat with the Hashira, and they brought him along when he declined.

  • Haruto gave Kyojuro dried apricots and told him that he and Senjuro could carry on the Rengoku Family’s Flame Breathing spirit.

Ch. 81Please Don't Stand Under Trees During Thunderstorms

With no missions to occupy him, Haruto traveled to Mount Momiji to deliver a Nichirin Blade to Jigoro Kuwajima and meet the former Rumble Hashira. He tried to warn Zenitsu Agatsuma about an approaching storm, but lightning struck the tree where Zenitsu was hiding and turned his hair yellow.

  • Godogawa asked Haruto to deliver a Nichirin Blade to Jigoro Kuwajima for his new apprentice, so Haruto took Genya to Mount Momiji.
  • Haruto and Genya encountered Zenitsu Agatsuma fleeing Jigoro Kuwajima's training and found the former Rumble Hashira scolding him beneath a tree.
  • Dark clouds gathered as Haruto realized Zenitsu was in danger and ran to warn them about the lightning.
  • Lightning struck Zenitsu's tree before Haruto could reach him, and Jigoro Kuwajima caught the fallen boy.
  • Haruto saw that the strike had turned Zenitsu's hair from black to golden yellow.

Ch. 82Scumbag Senior Disciple

Haruto delivered Zenitsu Agatsuma’s Nichirin Blade to Jigoro Kuwajima and met Kuwajima’s disciples, including Kaigaku, whose past Haruto recognized from Himejima’s account. Haruto kept Kaigaku’s secret to himself for now and accepted Kuwajima’s invitation to stay at Mount Momiji with Genya.

  • Haruto watched Zenitsu Agatsuma lament his newly yellow hair after surviving a lightning strike, and Jigoro Kuwajima dragged him back up the mountain.
  • Haruto introduced Genya and delivered Zenitsu’s Nichirin Blade to Jigoro Kuwajima, who praised Genya and introduced Zenitsu and his eldest disciple, Kaigaku.
  • Haruto recognized Kaigaku as the boy who had made a deal with a demon and caused the deaths at Himejima’s temple, but decided not to tell Jigoro Kuwajima yet.
  • Kaigaku hoped Haruto would recognize his talent and take him as a Tsuguko, but Haruto paid him little attention.
  • Jigoro Kuwajima invited Haruto and Genya to stay at Mount Momiji and encouraged Genya to eat the ripe peaches.

Ch. 83Stop fighting, you two

Haruto watched Genya and Kaigaku fight after Kaigaku abandoned Zenitsu in a pitfall. He followed Kaigaku and began recounting how he met Gyomei Himejima, leaving Kaigaku shocked enough to drop his sword.

  • Zenitsu fell into a concealed pitfall and twisted his ankle, and Kaigaku threw a peach at him instead of helping.
  • Genya confronted Kaigaku, and the two fought until Genya drew his musket and challenged Kaigaku to a standoff.
  • Zenitsu pleaded with Genya and Kaigaku to stop, then picked up Kaigaku's scabbard as Kaigaku walked away with his bare sword.
  • Haruto followed Kaigaku and told him he was not there to judge the fight, then said the first Hashira he had met was Gyomei Himejima.
  • Kaigaku dropped his sword when Haruto named Gyomei Himejima.

Ch. 84Kaigaku's repentance

Haruto confronted Kaigaku about his role in the Temple massacre and vowed to watch him so he would not disgrace Jigoro Kuwajima by becoming a demon. Later, Haruto trained with Jigoro and developed a powerful new technique, though he had not settled on its name.

  • Haruto recounted how Kaigaku had extinguished the Temple's wisteria incense, leading to the deaths of the children and Gyomei Himejima's wrongful accusation.
  • Kaigaku knelt and pleaded for forgiveness, while Haruto questioned whether his remorse was genuine and promised to keep him under close watch.
  • After Haruto left, Kaigaku blamed others for his troubles and wondered whether he should flee the Demon Slayer Corps.
  • Haruto practiced Star Breathing with Jigoro Kuwajima's guidance while Zenitsu watched and Genya memorized the movements.
  • Haruto combined Star Breathing's unpredictability with Thunder Breathing's speed and power to destroy a wooden post, then considered what to call the technique.

Ch. 85A Memory of Tanjiro's

Haruto questioned Tanjiro about his inherited earrings and his father’s ability to kill a bear, prompting Tanjiro to recall Tanjuro Kamado and the Hinokami Kagura. Tanjiro remembered his father’s lesson about breathing and his promise to pass down both the earrings and the dance.

  • Haruto gave Nezuko konpeito, scolded Genya for turning into a demon, and learned that Genya wanted to join the Demon Slayer Corps despite not using a Breathing Style.
  • Haruto noticed Tanjiro was not wearing his earrings and recognized them as matching those worn by Yoriichi Type Zero.
  • Haruto asked about Tanjiro’s father and recalled that Tanjiro had once said Tanjuro Kamado killed a man-eating bear.
  • Tanjiro remembered his quiet father, the mark on his forehead, and his yearly performance of the Hinokami Kagura despite being ill.
  • Tanjiro recalled Tanjuro teaching him that breathing could prevent fatigue and asking him to pass down the earrings and kagura dance forever.

Ch. 86Destiny

Tanjiro went to investigate a village burning below Mount Kumotori and found a Demon Slayer Corps team fighting the Blazing Foul Demon. Seeing the remains of a child he knew, Tanjiro faced the demon and resolved to fight.

  • Tanjiro tightened his grip on his sword and accepted that fighting demons was his destiny.

Ch. 87A Heart in Bloom

Tanjiro survived a battle with a flame demon after Giyu Tomioka rescued him and revealed he was Haruto Takanashi’s junior fellow disciple. Meanwhile, Haruto began observing the effects of Tamayo’s modified potion, and Tanjiro recovered at the Butterfly Mansion, where he met Shinobu Kocho.

  • Tanjiro struggled against the flame demon until Giyu Tomioka arrived and killed it with Water Breathing.
  • Giyu learned that Haruto Takanashi was Tanjiro’s teacher and introduced himself as Haruto’s junior fellow disciple.
  • Haruto tested Tamayo’s modified potion, and Tamayo told him to record changes in his body during a week of observation.
  • Giyu brought Tanjiro and the injured swordsmen to the Butterfly Mansion, where Shinobu Kocho treated Tanjiro’s wound.
  • Tanjiro told Shinobu that Nezuko was his younger sister, then sensed a delicate fragrance when he heard Haruto had arrived.

Ch. 88Butterfly

Haruto took Tanjiro home after Tanjiro asked to learn swordsmanship, then shared a shy, mutual understanding with Shinobu when she returned his repaired Haori. He left Shinobu with another torn garment to mend, and she happily agreed.

  • Haruto reassured Tanjiro that his family had been informed and listened as Tanjiro asked to learn swordsmanship after his mourning period.
  • Haruto promised to help settle Tanjiro's family safely and prepared to take him home while Genya stayed to study medical books.
  • Shinobu gave Haruto the Aoyama Haori she had repaired with a silver butterfly embroidery, and the two blushed as Haruto asked if she was sure about her feelings.
  • Haruto pretended to stumble outside and tore his own Haori, then asked Shinobu to mend it; she agreed with a smile.

Ch. 89A Snowy Day Before the New Year

Haruto returned to Mount Sagiri and planned New Year visits with Shinobu and Genya, while Tanjiro practiced swordsmanship through the snowfall. Giyu’s letter about a demon near Mount Kumotori left Haruto fearing that the story’s main events were about to begin.

  • Haruto returned to Mount Sagiri before the first snowfall and planned to bring Tanjiro’s family there after the New Year.
  • Tanjiro practiced with his Nichirin Blade in the snow, struggled to adapt Hinokami Kagura into sword techniques, and set off to sell charcoal.
  • Haruto read letters from Shinobu and Senjuro, learning that Shinobu would visit for New Year and that Kyojuro had taken Mitsuri Kanroji as an apprentice.
  • Haruto read Giyu’s letter reporting a demon near Mount Kumotori that had eaten several hunters, and he wondered whether the main arc was beginning.

Ch. 90Muzan Kibutsuji (The Title Says the Kamado Household Won't Die)

Muzan Kibutsuji searched the mountains for the Blue Spider Lily and slaughtered the Kamado family while testing his blood on them. Haruto reached the house and confronted Muzan, attacking him to avenge Nezuko and Rokuta.

  • Muzan continued his search for the Blue Spider Lily and came upon the Kamado cabin.
  • Muzan forced his blood into the Kamado family, killing Kie, the children, and the others as they failed to become demons who could withstand sunlight.
  • Haruto hurried toward Mount Kumotori after seeing comments that foretold his death and the family's tragedy.
  • Haruto arrived as Muzan left the bloodied house and recognized him as the Demon King.
  • Muzan invited Haruto to become a demon, but Haruto refused and attacked him with Star Breathing, Sixth Form: Falling Star Flash.

Ch. 91You're toast, Giyu Tomioka

Haruto raced to Mount Kumotori to prevent Muzan from reaching the Kamado family, but found Muzan already at their home and lured him into the forest. As Muzan attacked, Giyu Tomioka appeared on the mountain path, leaving Haruto fearing for him.

  • After recalling Muzan killing him, Haruto grabbed his last Demonization Potion and hurried from Mount Sagiri toward the Kamado household.
  • Haruto found Muzan outside the Kamado home, where Muzan recognized him from Daki's memories and compared him to his grandfather.
  • When Kie opened the door, Haruto fled into the forest to draw Muzan away from the family, and Muzan followed him.
  • Muzan toppled the trees around Haruto and prepared to attack, while Haruto reached for a butterfly brooch and spotted Giyu Tomioka approaching with his Nichirin Blade drawn.

Ch. 92Try... One More Time

Haruto returned for a fourth attempt to stop Muzan from killing the Kamado family, but Muzan attacked the household before Haruto and Giyu could defeat him. Tanjiro reached the cabin and rushed to the battlefield, where his earrings and marked forehead triggered Muzan’s memory of Yoriichi Tsugikuni.

  • Haruto revived outside the Wooden Cabin, took the Demonization Potion, and ran toward Mount Kumotori to try to save the Kamado family again.
  • Muzan killed Kie, turned Nezuko into a demon, and prepared to attack the children as Tanjiro heard Delia cry out in his sleep.
  • Haruto arrived and fought Muzan alongside Giyu, drawing Muzan’s curiosity because Haruto was demonizing without Muzan’s blood inside him.
  • Tanjiro returned to the Wooden Cabin, found Kie dead and Nezuko missing, and learned that Takeo, Haruto, and Giyu had gone toward the battlefield.
  • Tanjiro rushed to join Haruto and Giyu, and Muzan recognized his earrings and marked forehead as reminders of Yoriichi Tsugikuni.

Ch. 93A Tender Heart

Haruto and Giyu confronted Muzan as Tanjiro arrived, and Muzan fled after seeing Tanjiro’s earrings. With Haruto badly wounded and Nezuko turning into a demon, Giyu allowed Tanjiro to bring her along and ordered him to tie her up.

  • Tamayo told Haruto that Yoriichi Tsugikuni had once nearly killed Muzan, leaving him terrified and weakened for decades.
  • Muzan trembled at the sight of Tanjiro’s earrings, threw the unconscious Nezuko to him, and fled into the dawn.
  • Haruto collapsed from blood loss, and Giyu carried him while Tanjiro tried to take Nezuko to a doctor.
  • Giyu warned Tanjiro that Nezuko was becoming a demon and raised his sword, but Haruto urged him to speak more gently before passing out.
  • Nezuko woke and attacked Tanjiro, then cried as he restrained her; Giyu told Tanjiro to tie her up and come with him while he arranged for the Kakushi to collect the family and bury them.

Ch. 94An oath (End of volume two)

Haruto recovered at the Butterfly Mansion while Tanjiro and Nezuko stayed on Mount Sagiri, where their allies warned that everyone’s lives and reputations depended on Nezuko never eating a human. In Infinity Castle, Muzan ordered Daki and Gyutaro to kill the Takanashi family and told Akaza to find and kill the boy wearing Sunflower Earrings.

  • Shinobu Kocho told Haruto that his fever had passed, while Giyu Tomioka reported that Nezuko was not doing well and Genya took him from the room.
  • Shinobu told Haruto she wanted Cang Kong to call her next time so she could stand beside him, and Haruto comforted her.
  • On Mount Sagiri, Tanjiro recalled Sakonji Urokodaki warning that he and his allies would face severe consequences if Nezuko ate anyone, and he vowed she never would.
  • Nakime summoned Akaza and Daki to Infinity Castle, where Muzan praised Daki’s growing strength and revealed that Takanashi Sōma’s grandson had appeared in Japan.
  • Muzan ordered Daki and Gyutaro to kill every Takanashi, then instructed Akaza to find and kill the boy with Sunflower Earrings.

Ch. 95Red bean paste filled with love

At his first Hashira Meeting, Shinobu joined Haruto and the others as they welcomed Kyojuro and discussed his father Shinjuro’s worsening drinking and inability to serve as Flame Hashira. Kyojuro vowed to take his father’s place and believed that becoming a Hashira would help Shinjuro recover.

  • Kyojuro declared that he would become the Flame Hashira and believed his success would help his father pull himself together.

Ch. 96Sanemi Shinazugawa Came in Handy

Kyojuro endured Sanemi Shinazugawa’s violent challenge without fighting back, and Kagaya assigned him a mission to investigate a suspected Twelve Kizuki demon in the Imperial Capital. At Corps Headquarters, Haruto used Sanemi’s intimidating presence to clear the crowd around Kanroji.

  • Sanemi Shinazugawa attacked Kyojuro for acting as though he could claim the Flame Hashira’s position, but Kyojuro blocked his blows and thanked him for his concern.
  • Kagaya stopped the confrontation and assigned Kyojuro to investigate a suspected Twelve Kizuki demon in the Imperial Capital, Shinjuro’s former territory.
  • Haruto and Sabito offered to accompany Kyojuro, and Haruto suggested they eat before setting out.
  • At the dining hall, Haruto spotted Kanroji surrounded by male Corps members and learned she had once been Kyojuro’s apprentice.
  • Haruto asked Sanemi Shinazugawa to intervene, and Sanemi’s shout sent the crowd around Kanroji hurrying away.

Ch. 97Forty Thousand Sakura Mochi

Haruto, Shinobu, and the others met Mitsuri Kanroji at a restaurant, where they discovered her enormous appetite and learned how she got her pink hair. The chapter ended with Shinobu and Haruto quietly holding hands as the group continued talking and eating.

  • Shinobu explained that Maeda Masao had given Mitsuri a revealing uniform, while Haruto noticed Obanai staring at her.
  • Haruto went to the kitchen, overheard the cooks struggling to keep up with Mitsuri and Kyojuro’s appetites, and carried away a huge tray of sweets.
  • Obanai gave Mitsuri a pair of green-striped socks, leaving her surprised and blushing.
  • Mitsuri told the group that eating 170 sakura mochi daily for eight months had turned her hair pink, and Haruto and Kyojuro traded stories about their own appetites.
  • Haruto held Shinobu’s hand beneath the table, and she intertwined her fingers with his.

Ch. 98The transparent world

While Tanjiro struggled to master Hinokami Kagura during training on Mount Sagiri, Haruto realized the dance concealed Sun Breathing and learned from the comments about the Transparent World and other powerful abilities. An unseen force stopped him from speaking those names, reminding him that the two worlds were separating.

  • Tanjiro worried over Nezuko, who had remained asleep for six months, before Genya called him to training.
  • Haruto returned from patrol and watched Urokodaki train Tanjiro and Genya, criticizing Tanjiro's poor swordsmanship and Breathing Style.
  • Tanjiro performed Hinokami Kagura, and Haruto recognized that its movements contained traces of sword forms passed down as Sun Breathing.
  • After Tanjiro recalled Tanjuro's advice about precision and breathing, he described reaching a state where he could perceive and control the body's blood and muscles.
  • The comments identified Tanjiro's description as the Transparent World and mentioned the Bright Red Nichirin Sword, but an unseen force prevented Haruto from saying their names.

Ch. 99Mechanical Puppet

Haruto struggled to grasp the Transparent World and chose to focus on strengthening his body instead. Hotaru Haganezuka and Kotetsu arrived with a new mechanical puppet, which Haruto promptly volunteered Tanjiro and Genya to train against at its highest setting.

  • Haruto gave up trying to master the Transparent World immediately and decided to refine his body and Breathing Style.
  • Hotaru Haganezuka and Kotetsu arrived at Mount Sagiri carrying a mechanical puppet they had built together.
  • Kotetsu explained the puppet’s settings and accepted Haruto’s honest assessment that it was weaker than Yoriichi Type Zero.
  • Kotetsu revealed that the puppet was named Haru, but Haruto interrupted him to greet Tanjiro and Genya.
  • Haruto replaced the puppet’s wooden sword with a real blade and told Kotetsu to set it to the highest setting for Tanjiro and Genya’s training.
