When Kyojuro arrived, Chinatsu noticed him from inside the residence. Just as she turned to look his way, she heard his exclamation.
[Chinatsu, you really are... You've created another miracle!]
Chinatsu's face filled with question marks. What do you mean, I created another miracle? Hold on, Kyojuro, you've got the wrong idea. Nezuko's situation really has absolutely nothing to do with me.
Within a few seconds of Chinatsu looking toward Kyojuro, everyone else noticed him too. Aside from Zenitsu, who was still in his "The Flash" state, they all walked over to him.
"Mr. Rengoku, what brings you here?" Chinatsu asked nervously, wondering whether it was already time for the Mugen Train storyline.
If possible, she wanted to put it off a little longer. Although unlocking the Bright Red Nichirin Sword had given her a fighting chance against Upper Rank Three, she still wanted to keep a low profile and build up her strength some more.
Even with a ninety-percent chance of winning, Chinatsu would have wanted to make it a hundred percent before fighting. And her chances were nowhere near ninety percent.
"There is something I wanted to discuss. It's about that special Breathing Style of yours... I'm not very familiar with it, but I think the family archives at my home... My father might know about your special Breathing Style. So I wanted to let you know that if you're in a hurry, I can take you to my home right now."
Before Chinatsu could react, Tanjiro eagerly piped up beside her, his voice brimming with excitement. "Me! Can I come too?"
"Oh? You're Chinatsu's younger brother, aren't you? Did you inherit that special Breathing Style too? Then come along!" Kyojuro said, planting both hands on his hips.
Taking one person along was still taking someone along, and taking two was no different... Well, adding a demon to the group still counted as taking someone along.
After Tanjiro spoke, Nezuko raised her arm high beside him. She even stood on tiptoe, her lips pursed and her expression utterly serious.
They agreed to leave at this time tomorrow. If they moved quickly enough, they could even set out in the morning and head back that same evening, returning to the Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters by the following morning.
They could actually have left right away, but seeing that Nezuko was no longer afraid of sunlight, they needed to report this before setting off...
Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters, Oyakata-sama's room.
A familiar feeling filled the room. It had only been half a month, yet they had already held three Hashira Meetings in a row. Most absurd of all, none of those meetings had concerned anything ordinary. Every single one had involved a matter so important that everyone had to gather to discuss it.
"A demon... who's not afraid of sunlight?! What is this? Nezuko, you're far too flashy!" the Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, couldn't help exclaiming.
Nezuko didn't eat humans. That was a good thing.
Nezuko wasn't afraid of sunlight. That was also a good thing.
But Nezuko not eating humans meant there was a possibility that other demons might not eat humans either, and Nezuko not fearing sunlight meant other demons might also be able to withstand it.
The level of concern warranted by the latter was on an entirely different scale from the former. Everyone was both shocked and worried, and even Oyakata-sama looked troubled.
This oppressive atmosphere... Not good.
Chinatsu sensed that everyone's morale, which had finally soared thanks to the Bright Red Nichirin Sword, was beginning to drop again. How can we let that happen? We can't charge ahead on the first beat of the drum, falter on the second, and lose all steam on the third. Get that fighting spirit back up to full!
"Ahem. I don't think we need to worry too much about this. Nezuko is simply an exceptional individual. If demons really could move around in daylight, there should already have been reports of people being eaten during the day. I trust the Demon Slayer Corps' ability to gather intelligence. Since we haven't received any such reports yet, we can rule out that danger for the time being.
"But we can't completely ignore the possibility either. Oyakata-sama, although I know the Demon Slayer Corps is currently short-handed, I still hope you can find a way to recruit more people and increase our vigilance during the day."
Chinatsu earnestly voiced her thoughts. She meant every word: she truly wanted Oyakata-sama to strengthen their daytime vigilance.
There were two reasons.
First, to become immune to sunlight like Nezuko, Muzan had been searching for a plant called the Blue Spider Lily. Demons could only operate at night, but they weren't entirely helpless during the day. They threatened certain humans into searching for the Blue Spider Lily in daylight, though this wasn't particularly efficient.
Second, Chinatsu was also worried that her arrival in this world really had changed the storyline. What if another demon actually overcame sunlight? After all, in the original story, Upper Rank Three had overcome his vulnerability to decapitation through sheer willpower. Demons' bodies were also full of potential.
I have to be careful, careful, and even more careful!
Chinatsu's attitude stunned everyone around her, and Oyakata-sama couldn't help laughing. He wasn't laughing at Chinatsu. If anything, he was laughing at himself.
"You're right, you're right. We've let ourselves become a little too dispirited. I'll recruit more people and strengthen our vigilance. At worst, we'll spend a little more money. If it means defeating Muzan, money is nothing," Oyakata-sama said with a smile.
He was ruthless enough to try to take Muzan down with him using a huge amount of black powder in the final battle. Money was merely a worldly possession to him. The only reason he continued maintaining such a large family was to keep the Demon Slayer Corps running.
The meeting began quickly and ended just as swiftly. Nezuko had overcome both her bloodlust and sunlight. Such an exceptional demon left a deep impression on the Pillars and made them more cautious in their future battles against demons.
Nezuko's existence had shown them that demons, like humans, possessed unlimited potential. They could never underestimate demons, nor could they face them relying entirely on basic knowledge of their kind, because demons might defy that very knowledge.
After the meeting ended, Kyojuro, Chinatsu, Tanjiro, and Nezuko packed a few things. They had originally planned to leave tomorrow, but since the meeting had ended early, they decided they might as well set off sooner.
Kyojuro Rengoku's family-the Rengoku Family.
They were the family that passed down the secrets of Flame Breathing, one of the Demon Slayer Corps' five basic breathing styles. Every Flame Hashira had come from this family. They preserved books on training in Flame Breathing, along with a wealth of historical documents, including records of Hinokami Kagura-the origin breathing style, Sun Breathing.
Originally, Tanjiro had only gone there after the Mugen Train arc ended, having learned about it from the dying Kyojuro.
Now, Chinatsu and the others had arrived ahead of time!
