"Naruto, get back!"
Sensing something wrong beneath his feet, Sasuke hurriedly warned Naruto.
"Got it!"
Naruto grabbed Sasuke and hastily leaped backward.
The earth beneath them turned to quicksand the moment their feet left the ground, as did all the land within a kilometer!
Two monstrous arms made of sand reached out of the quicksand, trying to seize Naruto's and Sasuke's feet.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Wave!"
Naruto spat two blasts of fierce wind downward, forcing the sand arms back down.
"Is that... Gaara?"
Naruto and Sasuke stood on trees floating on the quicksand, watching the half-human, half-beast monster slowly rise from beneath it a short distance away.
"Sand Shuriken!"
Gaara's head now hurt as though it would split open, and he wanted to tear apart anyone he saw.
"Looks like Gaara's about to lose control completely. We'd better pull back for now."
Temari spoke to Kankuro.
"Good point!"
Kankuro wholeheartedly agreed with Temari's suggestion, and the two fled more than two kilometers away as fast as they could.
Seeing what had once been a forest turn into a sea of sand, neither could help drawing a sharp breath.
"Sand Waterfall Funeral!"
Gaara waved his hand, and the entire sea of sand seemed to come alive, flowing ceaselessly as it surged toward Naruto and Sasuke to bury them.
"Oh no!"
Naruto and Sasuke had no way to deal with this sea of sand now.
"Die, you two insects!"
Gaara laughed wildly.
"Looks like last time's lesson didn't teach you any humility..."
Lin Guang's languid voice rang out just then, and Naruto and Sasuke perked up.
"Lin Guang! You die too! Aaaah!"
Gaara's expression grew frenzied. His Sand Waterfall Funeral drove the entire sea of sand into a violent frenzy, as though it would bury the whole world!
