• Jiraiya explained his plan to Lin Guang and Mitsuri, then used his blue toad to travel toward Shibuki Bridge while they stayed behind.
• Lin Guang and Mitsuri waited for the rain to ease, changed into Demon Slayer Corps uniforms, and headed west through Amegakure.
• Konan sent paper butterflies across the village to search for intruders, but one mistook Lin Guang and Mitsuri for ordinary travelers and continued after finding Jiraiya's traces.

Jiraiya confronted Pain about Yahiko's death and learned that Pain planned to end war by using the Tailed Beasts to create a weapon that could destroy a nation instantly. As Jiraiya fought Pain's summon, Lin Guang arrived and laughed at his senior's awkward entrance.

• Jiraiya questioned Pain about Yahiko, and Pain said Yahiko had died long ago and that suffering had made him grow beyond humanity.
• Pain explained that he wanted to stop wars by giving nations a devastating Forbidden Technique weapon so fear would teach them pain.

Lin Guang arrived to help Jiraiya fight Pain, while Mitsuri confronted Konan. Lin Guang caught up with Pain and faced his multiplying Multi-Headed Dogs with Ice Flame.

• Lin Guang and Mitsuri arrived on an ice-crystal phoenix, and Lin Guang agreed to hold off Pain while Jiraiya summoned the two great toad sages.

• Satō Maji and Hyūga Jō greeted Mitsuri, embarrassed her, and left to continue their village security duties.
• A week later, Lin Guang and Tamayo arrived in Kumogakure and spent the day shopping together.

Lin Guang questioned Isobu about his capture and explained that he had helped him without any particular reason, then sent him into an alternate space. The story left Isobu confronting a powerful yellow-furred creature as a pink-haired girl arrived and considered the ninja world vulnerable.

• Isobu told Lin Guang that Naruto had injured him with Fire Release: Toad Oil Flame Bullet and that he had later encountered the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path and the Rinnegan.

• Killer B followed Lin Guang’s trail and found him with Tamayo and Inori Yuzuriha after the golden barrier vanished.
• Lin Guang concealed himself and the two girls, then appeared and identified Killer B after deflecting a kunai.
• Killer B attacked Lin Guang with his seven-blade Acrobat technique, cutting his clothes and leaving him with a shallow wound.

Lin Guang brought Inori Yuzuriha and Tamayo to the secret Uchiha Clan hideout to witness Sasuke Uchiha's decisive battle with Uchiha Itachi. Sasuke stabbed Itachi, questioned him about Lin Guang and the surviving Uchiha, and learned the name Madara Uchiha.

• Lin Guang took Inori Yuzuriha and Tamayo to the forest near the Uchiha Clan hideout as Sasuke Uchiha approached.
• Sasuke Uchiha and Uchiha Itachi fought, and Sasuke appeared to run Itachi through with the Kusanagi Sword before Itachi revealed the scene was a genjutsu.

• Uchiha Itachi used Tsukuyomi’s aftereffects to pressure Sasuke Uchiha, but Sasuke wounded his thigh with a modified shuriken and attacked with fire and Chidori.

• Sasuke Uchiha's apparent death proved to be a decoy made with the Orochimaru-Style Substitution Technique, and he transformed using the Cursed Seal.
• Sasuke Uchiha attacked Uchiha Itachi with repeated Fire Release techniques, burning his right hand and collapsing the Hideout's roof.
