Ch. 121Dropping a Rock on His Own Head

Chiba Yo left Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters, confident that Muzan’s spread of demons would help them find a way to defeat him. Hiding in the Infinity Castle, Muzan indulged in his belief that he could wait for Chiba Yo to die of old age, then grew angry when Hantengu reported finding the Swordsmith Village without attacking it.

  • Chiba Yo left Tanjiro behind and set out, planning to capture demons with useful Blood Demon Arts for Tamayo’s research.
  • Muzan congratulated himself for hiding in the Infinity Castle while demons multiplied across the country, convinced Chiba Yo would eventually die of old age.
  • Nakime brought Hantengu before Muzan after Hantengu asked to report something.
  • Hantengu told Muzan that he had found the Swordsmith Village, hoping to earn favor and get another Upper Rank to accompany him.
  • Muzan asked whether Hantengu had killed the swordsmiths and grew angry when Hantengu admitted he had not.

Ch. 122Muzan's plan

Muzan ordered Hantengu to destroy the Swordsmith Village within a month while keeping himself away from the Demon Slayers. Chiba Yo handed two demons to Tamayo, investigated a suspected Upper Rank, and learned from Genya that Tetsumaru-yama Niji was a woman.

  • Muzan threatened to devour Hantengu unless he killed every swordsmith in the Swordsmith Village within a month, then had Nakime send him away.
  • Muzan decided not to attack the village himself or deploy the top three Upper Ranks because he considered Chiba Yo his greatest threat.
  • Two weeks later, Chiba Yo delivered two demons with useful Blood Demon Arts to Tamayo, who had extracted the white-haired demon's ability but still needed to improve it.
  • Chiba Yo suspected the remaining Upper Ranks were creating demons across the country and set out to pursue a man locals had seen wearing Sengoku-period samurai clothing.
  • A Kasugai Crow delivered Genya's letter explaining that Tetsumaru-yama Niji was a woman and that he had left Chiba Yo's message on a note in her room.
  • Chiba Yo told Genya's Kasugai Crow to reassure Genya and tell him to focus on recovering.

Ch. 123Tsugikuni Michikatsu

Kokushibo encountered Chiba Yo beneath a blood-red moon and recognized him as a descendant of the Tsugikuni family. After revealing that he had once been Tsugikuni Michikatsu, Kokushibo heard Chiba Yo ask about his relationship with Yoriichi Tsugikuni.

  • Kokushibo saw Chiba Yo approaching and mistook him for Yoriichi Tsugikuni before Chiba Yo's words brought him back to the present.
  • Kokushibo recognized Chiba Yo as the Demon Slayer he had been ordered to kill and asked for his name.
  • Chiba Yo introduced himself, and Kokushibo identified him as a descendant of a branch of the Tsugikuni family.
  • Kokushibo told Chiba Yo that his human name had been Tsugikuni Michikatsu and that he had lived during the Sengoku Era.
  • Chiba Yo asked about Kokushibo's connection to Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and Kokushibo wondered aloud whether people still remembered his brother's name.

Ch. 124Clash

Kokushibo revealed that he became a demon to catch up to his younger twin brother, Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and attacked Chiba Yo after seeing a resemblance between them. Chiba Yo matched Kokushibo’s Breathing techniques and used the Transparent World to evade a sudden attack, leaving Kokushibo to recognize that he could see it too.

  • Kokushibo told Chiba Yo that Yoriichi Tsugikuni was his younger twin brother and explained that envy and the desire to surpass him had driven him to become a demon.
  • Kokushibo attacked with Moon Breathing, First Form: Dark Moon, Evening Palace, but Chiba Yo countered with Sun Breathing: Dance and forced him back.
  • Kokushibo unleashed Moon Breathing, Third Form: Loathsome Moon, Chains, and Chiba Yo answered with Sun Breathing, Second Form: Threefold Heaven, canceling the attacks before they charged at each other.
  • Chiba Yo’s Bright Red Nichirin Blade began cutting into Kokushibo’s flesh-forged sword, Kyokokukamusari, as they clashed.
  • Kokushibo erupted with blades from his body, but Chiba Yo saw the attack through the Transparent World and leaped clear; Kokushibo recognized that Chiba Yo could see it too.

Ch. 125Fierce Battle/Inheritance

Chiba Yo fought Kokushibo, whose Transparent World and memories made him mistake Chiba Yo for Yoriichi. Chiba Yo broke through Kokushibo’s defenses with Sun Breathing and unleashed a technique Kokushibo recognized as Yoriichi’s, leaving Kokushibo engulfed by its flames.

  • Kokushibo used Moon Breathing, Seventh Form, to send shock waves at Chiba Yo, but Chiba Yo countered with a barrage of flaming slashes.
  • Kokushibo shielded himself with Moon Breathing, Fifth Form, and Chiba Yo rushed through the cutting winds to attack him at close range.
  • Kokushibo blocked Chiba Yo’s strike with blades growing from his body, then counterattacked with Moon Breathing, Eighth Form.
  • Chiba Yo severed one of Kokushibo’s body blades and used Sun Halo Dragon, Head Dance, to overwhelm the sweeping attack.
  • Kokushibo recognized the technique as one Yoriichi had used, and Chiba Yo’s flaming dragon devoured his slash and began burning him.

Ch. 126An insult?

Chiba Yo fought Kokushibo while challenging his jealousy and belief that talent made others' lives unfair. Kokushibo called Chiba Yo's wish to trade strength for peace an insult, and Chiba Yo's blazing attack engulfed half of him.

  • Kokushibo recalled how he had spent his life trying to surpass Yoriichi, eventually abandoning his family and humanity, yet still being defeated by him.
  • Chiba Yo continued cutting apart Kyokokukamusari and told Kokushibo that great strength brought responsibility to protect others.
  • Kokushibo unleashed Moon Breathing attacks, and Chiba Yo countered them with Sun Breathing, saying he would rather trade his power for a peaceful life without demons.
  • Chiba Yo's words reminded Kokushibo of Yoriichi's preference for playing with him over practicing swordsmanship, and Kokushibo accused Chiba Yo of insulting him.
  • Kokushibo used Moon Breathing, Sixteenth Form: Moonbow, Solitary Moon, but Chiba Yo answered with Sun Breathing, Tenth Form: Solar Flame, Heaven-Burning, which engulfed half of Kokushibo's body.

Ch. 127Helplessness

Chiba Yo overwhelmed Kokushibo with Sun Breathing and severed his head, while Kokushibo’s final attack failed to harm him. As Kokushibo disintegrated, he remembered Yoriichi and accepted that he had never reached the perfection his brother described.

  • Chiba Yo burned Kokushibo with Sun Breathing, then blocked his Moon Breathing attack and countered with a stronger technique.
  • Kokushibo felt helpless as Chiba Yo’s sword energy cut across his body and his wounds healed slowly.
  • Chiba Yo struck Kokushibo’s neck while Kokushibo, believing he could finally die honorably in battle, unleashed Moon Breathing, Fifteenth Form: Falling Moon, Heavenly Burial.
  • Chiba Yo used Sun Breathing, Ninth Form: Solar Halo, to engulf and neutralize Kokushibo’s crescent blades.
  • Kokushibo disintegrated, remembering Yoriichi and reflecting that he had left nothing behind and never saw the world his brother had described.

Ch. 128Goodbye

As Kokushibo turned to ash, he remembered his life with Yoriichi and understood that he had pursued strength to become the older brother who could protect him. He reunited with Yoriichi after death, accepted the hope of being brothers in another life, and said goodbye, believing his sins would keep them apart.

  • Kokushibo remembered his childhood with Yoriichi and the night he cut his brother’s body and their Short Flute in two.
  • Chiba Yo watched Kokushibo vanish into ash, then picked up the broken flute from his robes.
  • Kokushibo awoke in darkness and met Yoriichi, who said he still wanted them to be brothers in the future.
  • Michikatsu realized he had tried to surpass Yoriichi so he could protect him as an older brother, and he agreed to make him another flute if they met again.
  • Yoriichi promised to blow the flute when that time came, and Michikatsu said goodbye, believing his sins meant he could not go where Yoriichi was going.

Ch. 129A thousand lifetimes, ten thousand lifetimes

Yoriichi and Shi departed together, while Michikatsu accepted that his family would not forgive him and walked into the flames with the Short Flute. After burning the flute, Chiba Yo reached a Wisteria House near Yoshiwara and accepted an old woman’s offer of breakfast.

  • Yoriichi said goodbye to Michikatsu and left with Shi and their child, promising Shi he would find her again in another life.
  • Michikatsu realized he could no longer remember his wife and children and accepted the consequences of abandoning them.
  • Michikatsu kept the restored Short Flute instead of calling Yoriichi back, then walked into the flames.
  • Chiba Yo burned the Short Flute, believing it could give Upper Rank One something to hold on to in hell.
  • Chiba Yo reached a town near Yoshiwara, thought about Tengen and Shinobu Kocho, and went looking for food after his battle.
  • An old woman invited Chiba Yo into the Wisteria House for breakfast, and he accepted when his stomach growled.

Ch. 130Entering the Wisteria House

Chiba Yo rested at the Wisteria House, where the old woman welcomed him and told him how Jigoro Kuwajima had once saved her. After eating and bathing, he met a woman who asked him to deliver a letter to Tanjiro Kamado.

  • The old woman brought Chiba Yo into the Wisteria House and thanked him for his work protecting people.
  • Chiba Yo wondered what he would do after the demons were defeated, then set the question aside.
  • The old woman asked about Jigoro Kuwajima and explained that he had saved her from a demon years earlier.
  • Chiba Yo ate a large meal, bathed, and waited while his clothes were washed.
  • A woman arrived at the Wisteria House, gave Chiba Yo an unaddressed letter, and asked whether he knew Tanjiro Kamado.

Ch. 131Koinatsu

Koinatsu gave Chiba Yo a letter for Tanjiro and told him about her life in the Yoshiwara Pleasure District and the customer who had promised to free her but never came. Chiba Yo listened as she shared her disappointment, leaving him pained but unsure what to say.

  • Koinatsu asked Chiba Yo to deliver her letter to Tanjiro, and he agreed to have his Kasugai Crow carry it.
  • Koinatsu asked about Tanjiro's condition, and Chiba Yo told her he had recovered from his injuries.
  • Chiba Yo noticed Koinatsu's sadness and invited her to talk about what was troubling her.
  • Koinatsu described being sold to Tokito House as a child and losing her freedom in the Yoshiwara Pleasure District.
  • Koinatsu explained that a customer had promised to buy out her contract and marry her, but he never appeared after Warabihime tried to eat her.
  • Koinatsu regretted telling Tanjiro that someone was willing to marry her, and Chiba Yo listened without offering empty reassurance.

Ch. 132Poor Hantengu

Chiba Yo left the Wisteria House after promising to seek out Koinatsu someday, and set off to look for clues about Muzan. Elsewhere, Kyojuro, Muichiro, Mitsuri, and Genya killed Hantengu in the Swordsmith Village and prepared to return for the Hashira Meeting.

  • Koinatsu thanked Chiba Yo for listening to her story, and he promised to find her someday and buy her freedom.
  • After lunch, Chiba Yo changed into his uniform and kimono, received the old woman's blessing, and sent Koinatsu's letter to Tanjiro with Crow Bro.
  • Chiba Yo checked his map and headed toward his next destination to search for clues about Muzan.
  • Kyojuro fought Hantengu at the Swordsmith Village, where Muichiro, Mitsuri, and Genya joined him and helped slay the demon's clones and hidden true body.
  • Kyojuro confirmed that Hantengu was an Upper Rank and said they would return to report the victory at the upcoming Hashira Meeting.

Ch. 133The Final Meeting in Infinity Castle

Muzan, shaken by Kokushibo and Hantengu’s deaths, strengthened Nakime and summoned Akaza and Doma to Infinity Castle. He told them Chiba Yo had killed Kokushibo, leaving Akaza stunned and Doma feigning grief.

  • Muzan learned that Kokushibo and Hantengu had died and feared that Chiba Yo could defeat him.
  • Muzan poured blood into Nakime, ordering her to grow stronger and relying on her Blood Demon Art as his escape plan.
  • Akaza and Doma arrived at Infinity Castle, where Doma provoked Akaza until Akaza punched his head apart.
  • Muzan arrived with Nakime, and Akaza and Doma knelt before him.
  • Muzan announced Kokushibo and Hantengu’s deaths and identified Chiba Yo as Kokushibo’s killer.
  • Akaza asked who had killed Kokushibo, while Doma shed tears and lamented the loss of the Upper Ranks.

Ch. 134The Eternal Paradise Cult

Muzan ordered Akaza and Doma to remain in Infinity Castle and prepare for the possibility that Chiba Yo would find them. Doma returned to the Eternal Paradise Cult to gather his followers and announced a ceremony that would bring them all to Infinity Castle.

  • Muzan ordered Akaza and Doma to eliminate any humans or animals near Infinity Castle and praised Akaza, promising him the chance to claim Upper Rank One.
  • Muzan told Doma to gather as many cult followers as possible so they could be brought to Infinity Castle as food or turned into malformed demons.
  • Doma asked to keep some of the female followers for food, and Muzan agreed before Nakime transported him back to the cult.
  • Doma teased Akaza after Muzan left, but Nakime transported Doma away before Akaza could strike.
  • Doma told a bald follower to admit three prospective members and summon all the followers for a ceremony that every follower would be required to attend.

Ch. 135Yushiro's Change in Attitude

Chiba Yo brought Tamayo a demon with a spatial Blood Demon Art, helping her complete preparations to locate and weaken Muzan. Tamayo insisted on joining the coming attack herself, and Yushiro realized she intended to sacrifice her life.

  • Chiba Yo returned to Tamayo's laboratory with a demon whose Blood Demon Art let it teleport to active traces of its blood.
  • Tamayo accepted the demon, explained that she had extracted other Blood Demon Arts, and said they could help locate Muzan and prevent him from splitting apart.
  • Tamayo rejected Chiba Yo's offer to accompany her, explaining that Muzan would flee if he sensed him before the plan was ready.
  • After Tamayo and Yushiro finished extracting the Blood Demon Arts, Yushiro urged her to let the Demon Slayer Corps eliminate Muzan without her.
  • Tamayo said defeating Muzan was the obsession that had kept her alive, and Yushiro understood that she planned to take part despite the danger.

Ch. 136To be forgotten is to die a second time

Tamayo explained the plan to use Yushiro’s abilities to expose Muzan and revealed that she and Shinobu had developed medicine to suppress the Demon Slayer Mark’s drawbacks. She remained determined to die after defeating Muzan, while Yushiro accepted her decision and promised to remember her and wait for her reincarnation.

  • Yushiro recalled Tamayo’s guilt over killing innocents and her resolve to die after helping destroy Muzan.
  • Tamayo told Chiba Yo how the Demon Slayer Corps would use Yushiro’s talismans and spatial control to reach Muzan and begin the final battle.
  • Tamayo told Chiba Yo that she and Shinobu had developed medicine to prevent the Demon Slayer Mark from shortening its users’ lives, and Chiba Yo thanked her.
  • After Chiba Yo left, Tamayo and Yushiro treated and sealed the demon he had brought, then Yushiro asked Tamayo to reconsider her plan to die.
  • Tamayo gave Yushiro two doses of Demon Transformation Medicine so he and Chachamaru could become human after the battle, and Yushiro promised to remember her and wait for her reincarnation.

Ch. 137Why She Refused to Become Human Again

Yushiro asked Tamayo for a chance to protect her in another life, and her answer eased his sorrow. Later, Chiba Yo helped Tanjiro realize Nezuko had remained a demon because she wanted to keep protecting him.

  • Yushiro asked Tamayo if she would let him protect her in a future life, and Tamayo said her feelings for her husband and son belonged to her current life.
  • Chiba Yo returned to headquarters and met Tanjiro, who said Koinatsu’s letter had reassured him about her life.
  • Chiba Yo asked why Nezuko had not returned to human form, and Tanjiro said Tamayo believed she was waiting for something more important than regaining awareness.
  • Chiba Yo suggested considering what Nezuko would lose by becoming human, and Tanjiro realized she would lose her demon strength.
  • Chiba Yo reassured Tanjiro that Nezuko would not need her demon body once every demon had been wiped out.

Ch. 138The VIP treatment

Chiba Yo returned to headquarters after killing Upper Rank One and discovered that his Kasugai Crow had spread the news to everyone. He turned down a young swordsman seeking to become his Tsuguko, then reunited with Kyojuro.

  • Tanjiro told Chiba Yo that his Kasugai Crow had left after delivering the letter and might have returned to headquarters.
  • Chiba Yo found Crow Bro boasting to Muichiro's Kasugai Crow about his master's victory, and Muichiro's crow plucked out one of Crow Bro's feathers.
  • Chiba Yo questioned Crow Bro about who had heard the news, then learned from an excited Kakushi member that his victory over Upper Rank One was already widely known.
  • A young swordsman asked to become Chiba Yo's Tsuguko, but Chiba Yo refused because the final battle was approaching.
  • Kyojuro congratulated Chiba Yo on defeating Upper Rank One, approaching with his left eye still closed as he recovered.

Ch. 139Kiriya Ubuyashiki

Chiba Yo visited Kagaya Ubuyashiki to discuss the final battle against Muzan after defeating Upper Rank One. Kagaya chose Kiriya to command the battle, while Chiba Yo remained concerned about protecting the Ubuyashiki family.

  • Kyojuro told Chiba Yo that he had recovered and no longer needed him to cover his patrol area.
  • Chiba Yo visited Kagaya, who praised him for slaying Upper Rank One and heard his request to plan the battle against Muzan.
  • Kagaya said the Corps would deploy all the Hashira and swordsmen strong enough to approach their level, while Tamayo’s layered poisons weakened Muzan and prevented his escape.
  • Chiba Yo suggested leaving two Hashira behind to protect Kagaya, but Kagaya said Kiriya would command the battle and he would only advise him.
  • Chiba Yo greeted Kiriya and again urged Kagaya to assign two Hashira to protect him and his children.

Ch. 140The truth behind the illness

Chiba Yo learned that Kagaya’s illness was a family curse caused by their ancestor Muzan Kibutsuji, and reassured Kagaya that the Demon Slayer Corps’ work mattered regardless of his family’s motives. The chapter ended with Chiba Yo vowing to defeat Muzan and Kagaya hoping his descendants would be freed from the curse.

  • Kagaya told Chiba Yo that he would inform the Hashira and other chosen fighters about the Final Battle at a meeting in three days.
  • Kagaya revealed that his family had been cursed since Muzan Kibutsuji, the first demon, was born into it, causing generations of frail children and short lives.
  • Kagaya explained that his family founded the Demon Slayer Corps and married shrine maidens to oppose Muzan and ease the curse.
  • Chiba Yo reassured Kagaya that his family’s deeds had saved countless people, whatever their original motives.
  • Kagaya said Muzan’s death might free his descendants, and Chiba Yo vowed to slay him.
