The voice was not loud, yet it pierced through the entire academy. Its rumbling echoes rolled like thunder, and in an instant, an oppressive weight swept over the academy like black clouds bearing down on a city.
Yan Shaozhe's expression changed drastically. "This is bad. A powerful enemy has arrived," he said gravely. "Viren, order every student to return to the classrooms immediately. No one is to go outside. I'll go on ahead." His figure flashed in front of Gu Qingnian, shielding him.
The voice gave Gu Qingnian pause as well. He had thought they might come, but he had never expected them to arrive so quickly!
Wang Dong watched from the side, a glimmer of gold flashing through her eyes. Huo Yuhao and Xiao Xiao looked somewhat pale, while the other students were deathly white, some swaying as though about to collapse.
"Be careful!" the Ice Empress and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm cried out simultaneously within the Sea of Consciousness, both turning utterly solemn.
Just then, Qian Duoduo, Fan Yu, and Ma Xiaotao arrived beside them. Yan Shaozhe acted first, releasing a gentle surge of soul power to envelop Gu Qingnian.
Gu Qingnian's eyes flashed, and the soul power stalled. His figure flickered, and the soul power slowly receded and dissipated.
Yan Shaozhe and the other three froze. Gu Qingnian said calmly, "They're here for me, aren't they? I'd like to stay and watch."
Their expressions changed at his words. The two deans exchanged a glance, their eyelids twitching. Ma Xiaotao's red lips parted, but Yan Shaozhe shook his head before she could speak. She paused and said nothing more.
Zhou Yi and the other teachers had dispersed the surrounding students and sent them to take shelter, leaving only their small group on the grounds.
