His refusal to accept Du Busi as a master is equally uncompromising: he declares that no one, not even a god, is worthy of that position 69 154.

He combines calculated deception with a willingness to confront stronger opponents. During the assassination attempt, he deliberately stops resisting to draw the attackers away and buy time for Ma Xiaotao’s rescue. He later reflects that he enjoys both scheming and charging into conflict, rather than following a purely cautious path 121 162.

His tenderness toward companions contrasts sharply with his treatment of enemies. He comforts Jiang Nannan through her distress and stays beside her as she sleeps, but humiliates Dai Huabin after defeating him and eventually kills him during the Star Luo confrontation.
