Background / History
Before transmigration, Qin Chao grew up in an orphanage and worked an ordinary office job. After posting a sarcastic comment calling Tang San a hypocrite, he reincarnated as an infant near Holy Soul Village. The Qi Fortune Seizure System activated immediately, but his infancy prevented him from exploiting its rewards at once 1 3 19.
Old Jack found him and took him home. Although the adoption passage calls Qin Chao his adopted son, Qin Chao addresses him as his grandfather. Their household was poor, and inadequate infant nutrition left Qin Chao with physical deficiencies that later affected his cultivation 1 2 33.
For six years, petty attempts to bully Tang San produced no system rewards. His first successful fortune seizure came at martial soul awakening: by breaking the testing crystal, he prevented Tang San’s innate full soul power from being measured during the ceremony and took the spotlight himself 1 2 3.
Appearance
Qin Chao is a handsome child with refined features, initially dressed in shabby clothes and noticeably thin from poor nutrition 1 5 30.
- Hair: Soft enough that Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan repeatedly enjoy ruffling it 21 30 46.
- Spirit Hall clothing: A white robe decorated with golden patterns and the character for “soul” on its chest 16.
- Training clothing: A close-fitting white outfit 31.
- Later physique: Intensive conditioning makes him taller and stronger, with visible muscle and substantially improved endurance 37.
- Taotie possession: Develops an enlarged mouth, sharp teeth, sinewy muscles, and downy fur. The transformation is described as having a sheep’s body, human face, tiger teeth, and human claws 1.
Personality
Qin Chao is ambitious and unwilling to accept an ordinary life. He wants overwhelming strength, godhood, and romantic companionship, and initially treats Tang San’s destiny as something to appropriate. His knowledge of the original story makes him calculating rather than merely confrontational 2 3.
He deliberately uses his childish appearance, affectionate behavior, and sweet talk to lower others’ guard. He fabricates explanations for his system-generated rings and modern training knowledge, but his gratitude toward Old Jack and Spirit Hall becomes genuine. He comes to regard people he once knew only as fictional characters as his family 5 14 25 31.
His loyalty has a ruthless edge. He violently defends Old Jack and Yue Guan against humiliation, and secretly poisons a challenger after publicly sparing him. At the same time, he recognizes that system advantages do not replace effort: he studies medicinal plants diligently and endures months of painful training without taking a day off 16 21 23 37 40 41.
Abilities & Skills
Qi Fortune Seizure System
The system rewards Qin Chao for taking the protagonist’s fortune, allowing him to draw prizes and redeem items 1.
- Reward conditions: Changing Tang San’s opportunities, relationships, or thinking can earn fortune points; stealing ordinary possessions does not 1 3 23 24.
- Prize pools: Bronze, silver, gold, and diamond 2.
- Documented costs: A bronze draw costs five fortune points; his first silver draw costs fifty luck value 2 33.
- Random rewards: Draws can produce herbs or other items instead of the soul ring or enhancement he wants 8 10 33.
- Limits: Qin Chao still needs to acquire knowledge, improve his body, and develop practical combat skills 21 30 35.
Heaven and Earth Tower
A golden, nine-story pagoda martial soul combining offensive, defensive, and control functions 1 15.
| Soul Skill | Ring | Applications and Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Blazing Flames | Flame Tiger; seven hundred years when examined | Grants a burning effect and produces a flame barrier separating the tower’s interior from the outside. Enlarging the tower consumes substantial soul power 6 14. |
| Entrap / Trap | Great Strength Vajra Bear; thousand-year ring | Draws targets inside the enlarged tower. Used to capture Bibi Dong and Ci Jie, and to shelter Qin Chao’s teammates from external pressure 14 43 48. |
- Mobility: The enlarged tower remains agile despite its size 14.
- Capacity: Can shelter Qin Chao, Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan together 43.
- Durability limits: Bibi Dong breaks it with a finger tap, while Demon Subduing Douluo’s intensified pressure cracks it and nearly overwhelms Qin Chao 15 43.
Taotie
His beast martial soul grants a powerful physical transformation, accompanied by bloodthirsty instincts and an urge to destroy 1 8.
- Strength: His first tested punch exceeds Bibi Dong’s expectations for a newly ringed Soul Master 6.
- Limits: The punch cannot damage her soul-power barrier, and maintaining the transformation consumes considerable soul power 6 8.
- Unusual aura: Gui Mei recognizes an aura resembling a mysterious building he encountered while temporarily dead 8.
Growth-Type Soul Rings
System-generated rings begin as white ten-year rings and increase in age with Qin Chao’s strength 2 10 23.
- Flame Tiger ceiling: Explicitly capable of growing to one hundred thousand years 2.
- Absorption: Qin Chao raises their initial age by circulating soul power and enduring the accompanying pain 2 3 10 11.
- Absence of resentment: Xiao Wu confirms that his rings lack the soul-beast resentment found in hunted rings 10 11.
- Advantage: Qin Chao realizes this makes them easier to absorb than natural rings, contributing to his unusually high ring ages 23.
Golden Eyes (I)
A physical enhancement that allows Qin Chao to observe minute details through microscopic vision 33 35.
- Movement analysis: Detects muscle changes and helps him infer an attack’s direction 35.
- Prediction: After Bibi Dong’s guidance, he watches unconscious bodily reactions preceding deliberate movement 37.
- Precision: Uses pinpoint wrist contact to disrupt a challenger’s grip and disarm him 39.
- Limits: Seeing an attack does not guarantee reacting quickly enough; practical use requires sustained training 35.
Physical Combat and Conditioning
Gui Mei trains Qin Chao through controlled, high-speed attacks, while Qin Chao supplements this with modern-style strength and fitness exercises 30 31 32.
- Training design: Identifies teammates’ individual weaknesses and recommends tailored exercises rather than identical routines 30.
- Equipment knowledge: Provides designs for dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, shoulder press machines, and spin bikes 31.
- Measured improvement: His training dumbbells increase from twenty jin to one hundred jin over half a year 37.
- Combat results: Overwhelms a dagger-wielding challenger in physical combat after training against Gui Mei 39.
- Limit: His short stature reduces leverage and striking power 30 39.
Herbalism and Poison Treatment
Qin Chao studies medicinal plants and poison under Yue Guan to address his disadvantage against Tang San’s Tang Sect knowledge 7 8 21.
- Correctly identifies more than thirty ingredients in Yue Guan’s beast-repelling powder 21.
- Uses a slow-acting poisoned needle whose toxin progressively obstructs blood vessels and worsens with cultivation 40.
- Treats Hu Liena by sealing acupoints, removing poisoned blood, and applying aromatic silk beauty stamens to her wound 50.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Soul Tool and small knife — Stores supplies; retrieves the knife and aromatic silk beauty during Hu Liena’s emergency treatment 50.
- Slow-acting poison needle — His sole needle, intended as a lifesaving measure, is expended against the challenger who insults Yue Guan 40 41.
- Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum — Drawn from the bronze pool instead of his desired ring; subsequently presented as a gift to Yue Guan 8 13.
- Lovesick Heartbreak Red — System-drawn immortal herb given to Xiao Wu before leaving the Star Dou Great Forest 10 11.
- Aromatic silk beauty — System-drawn anti-poison herb. Withers after Qin Chao removes its essential stamens to treat Hu Liena 10 46 50.
- Tuft of black fur — Given by Xiao Wu to protect him from ordinary soul beasts 11.
- Beast-repelling powder — Yue Guan’s preparation, scattered around camp and burned in the campfire 21.
- Borrowed warrant and masks — Uses Yue Guan’s warrant to enter the Soul Hunting Forest and masks to approach Tang San’s group discreetly 20 21.
Relationships
- Old Jack — Adoptive guardian whom Qin Chao calls Grandpa. Qin Chao gives him money, plans to repair their home, and intervenes when Nuoding Academy’s gatekeeper mistreats him 1 4 15 16.
- Yue Guan / Chrysanthemum Douluo — Teacher in plants, poison, and medicinal support. Qin Chao treats insults against him as insults against a parent 8 21 31 38.
- Gui Mei / Ghost Douluo — Physical combat teacher. His demanding instruction develops Qin Chao’s resilience, observation, and reactions 8 32 37.
- Bibi Dong — Patron, protector, and cultivation adviser. Qin Chao rejects becoming her disciple but grows sincerely loyal to her; she develops a maternal attachment while he repeatedly flirts with her 6 14 15 28 37.
- Hu Liena — Close companion and Golden Generation teammate. Supports his ambitions, accompanies him home, and is saved by him after being poisoned 15 20 25 50.
- Xiao Wu — Calls him her little brother and offers protection. Qin Chao wins her affection before her meeting with Tang San, gives her gifts and money, and reunites with her at Nuoding Academy 10 11 18.
- Tang San — Principal rival and target of fortune seizure. Qin Chao uses his superior resources and strength to undermine Tang San’s confidence in Yu Xiaogang 1 2 24 25.
- Xie Yue and Yan — Older-brother-like teammates. Qin Chao helps refine their training, while they show concern for his safety during the assessment 25 30 46.
- Su Yuntao — Awakening examiner and recruiter who brings Qin Chao to Spirit Hall 1 2 4.
- Yu Xiaogang / Grandmaster — Tang San’s teacher. Qin Chao dislikes him but accepts his invitation into Nuoding Academy and later uses their encounter to influence Tang San 17 18 24.
- Demon Subduing Douluo and Qian Daoliu — Elder Hall figures whose assessment proposals challenge Bibi Dong’s faction. Qin Chao contests their interference and accepts their additional challenges 28 29 43 50.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Joining Spirit Hall
Qin Chao accepts Su Yuntao’s recruitment after his awakening earns five fortune points. At Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong initially suspects his unusual soul ring indicates outside backing and nearly strangles him before accepting his explanation. Following her apology and tests of his martial souls, he declines her discipleship offer and instead chooses Yue Guan and Gui Mei as his teachers 2 4 5 6 8.
Meeting Xiao Wu and Interfering at Nuoding
During the Star Dou Great Forest expedition, Qin Chao leaves his group to search for Xiao Wu. Her affection earns him ten fortune points, and their meeting gives him an early connection to someone central to Tang San’s future 9 10 11.
He later times his home visit around Nuoding Academy’s registration, protects Old Jack at its gates, and reunites with Xiao Wu. In the Soul Hunting Forest, his attempt to disrupt Tang San’s first-ring opportunity fails, but he changes tactics: displaying his rings, treasures, and Titled Douluo teachers plants doubts about Grandmaster. He earns fifteen luck value from those doubts and another thirty afterward 15 16 18 22 23 24 25.
Preparing for the Golden Generation Assessment
When the Elder Hall proposes restructuring the Golden Generation, Qin Chao persuades Bibi Dong to accept an assessment under negotiated conditions: six months to prepare, with candidates under fifteen and above rank twenty-five. He argues that a decisive victory can expose rival faction recruits and establish the group’s standing 28 29.
Before the assessment, he defeats and secretly poisons a provocateur who insults Yue Guan. He then explains the political trap surrounding the challenger and asks Yue Guan to protect him temporarily so his death cannot be used as evidence against the Pope Hall 38 39 40 41.
Assessment Victory and Revenue Challenge
Qin Chao shelters his teammates inside the tower when Demon Subduing Douluo unfairly increases their pressure test. Bibi Dong intervenes before the tower fails 43.
In the practical assessment, Qin Chao traps Ci Jie and saves Hu Liena from Zero’s poison. Qian Daoliu declares the Golden Generation victorious, then proposes an additional money-making round after disputing Bibi Dong’s proposed restrictions on their authority. Qin Chao accepts on the team’s behalf 48 50.
