Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Initial awakening | 1 | Appears in Qin Chao’s right hand as a golden, nine-story pagoda. |
| First Soul Ring — yellow, hundred-year | 3 | A growth-capable Flame Tiger ring obtained through the system’s prize draw. Direct inspection places its age at 700 years, although a later passage in the same chapter gives 600 years. Its age increases with Qin Chao’s strength. |
| First Soul Skill demonstrated | 6 | Gains flames, enlargement, and a barrier separating its interior from the outside. Later identified as Blazing Flames. |
| Second Soul Ring — purple, thousand-year; first ring reaches 800 years | 10 12 14 | Qin Chao absorbs a Growth-Type Soul Ring from a Great Strength Vajra Bear. It grants Entrap, also called Trap. The resulting increase in strength raises the first ring’s age to 800 years. |
| Third Soul Ring — purple, 7,000 years | 63 64 | Grants an unnamed duplication skill producing up to nine towers, allowing group control without enclosing every target in one oversized tower. |
| All three Soul Rings purple | 64 75 | The first and second rings are now also within the thousand-year category; the exact chapter in which the first ring crosses that threshold is not shown. |
| Second Soul Ring confirmed at 3,000 years | 86 | Its strengthened suction captures the rank-34 flying Soul Master Yu Feng despite his attempted escape. |
| Ice-and-fire enhancement | 95 96 | Consuming octagonal mysterious ice grass and infernal delicate apricot, followed by enhancement in the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, adds white and red patterns and grants freezing and scorching properties independent of a newly attached Soul Ring. |
Background / History
The tower awakens when six-year-old Qin Chao undergoes the Martial Soul awakening ceremony in Holy Soul Village. Initially described as a small golden pagoda, it receives its first Soul Ring through Qin Chao’s system rather than a conventional soul-beast hunt. Qin Chao conceals that origin by claiming he encountered and killed a dying beast 1 3.
After Qin Chao arrives at Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong examines its first skill and praises its durability, control effect, and attached flames. She has never seen either of his Martial Souls before and is uncertain whether they arose through mutation. At Qin Chao’s request, she names the tower Heaven and Earth, which he adopts as Heaven and Earth Tower 6 7.
Its early development combines burning attacks, protective enclosure, and suction-based imprisonment. After the Spirit Hall assessment exposes the weakness of enlarging one tower to contain multiple people, Qin Chao considers—but rejects—adding a defensive Soul Ring. His third skill instead divides the tower into multiple copies 14 15 62 63.
Appearance
The Heaven and Earth Tower normally manifests as an exquisite golden pagoda in Qin Chao’s right hand 1 5.
- Nine stories, with its first Soul Ring initially circling the lowest story 1 3.
- Detailed brackets and decorated pillars, including golden dragons among auspicious clouds 3.
- Revolving sun and moon above its peak, emitting alternating blazing and gentle light 3 85.
- Variable size: initially palm-sized, it reaches three meters tall during its first skill test and over four meters during a later demonstration 6 14.
- White and red patterns appear after its ice-and-fire enhancement 95.
Abilities & Skills
Manifestation, Enlargement, and Remote Control
Qin Chao can throw the tower, direct it after release, enlarge it through Soul Power, and recall it to his hand or body 6 12 49.
- Physical interception: its weight and impact halt Ci Jie’s rolling charge, throwing him into the air and causing him to spit blood 47.
- Protective enclosure: it can surround Qin Chao or his companions rather than an enemy 9 43.
- Agile movement: despite its enlarged bulk, it moves with considerable agility during Bibi Dong’s test 14.
- Soul Power scaling: increasing output strengthens its suction, while enlarging the tower increases consumption 43 86.
First Soul Skill: Blazing Flames
The Flame Tiger ring coats the tower in fire, adding a burning effect to its attacks and barrier. The skill belongs to the power attack system, although Bibi Dong also recognizes a single-target control function in its initial demonstration 6 14.
- Flame barrier: separates the tower’s interior from its surroundings and burns objects that contact it 6.
- Adhesive fire: the flames are not especially hot initially, but cling tenaciously and are difficult to shake off 9 12.
- Contact damage: fire spreads along the Man Faced Demon Spider’s legs and softens Ci Jie’s spikes 9 47.
- Anti-plant application: Qin Chao ignites the tower while enclosed by Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass, countering the plant-type attack 58.
- Incineration: after the ice-and-fire enhancement, this skill is still required to burn a trapped tree completely to ash 96.
Second Soul Skill: Entrap / Trap
Obtained from the Great Strength Vajra Bear, this skill generates suction inside the tower to draw a target into confinement rather than merely dropping an enclosure over them 14.
- Target capture: imprisons Yue Guan during a surprise test and pulls Bibi Dong inside during a demonstration; neither event establishes that Qin Chao can hold them against their full strength 12 14 15.
- Movement denial: confines Ci Jie tightly enough to prevent him from rebuilding the momentum needed for his rolling charge 48.
- Anti-flight control: drags Yu Feng out of the air despite his wingbeats and Whirlwind Assault 86.
- Ally extraction: pulls Xie Yue out of Yu Tianheng’s attack range and encloses him safely 87.
- Reach: its suction extends slightly beyond the roughly twenty-meter range attributed to Yu Tianheng’s Lightning Dragon Claw 87.
- Utility suction: four copies, used in pairs, let Qin Chao and Yan descend a mine wall like geckos; Qin Chao carries Hu Liena on his back 102.
Third Soul Skill: Tower Duplication
The unnamed third skill splits the Heaven and Earth Tower into as many as nine independently deployed towers 63.
- Adjustable number: Qin Chao can summon fewer than nine copies, trading coverage for longer duration 63.
- Copy durability: each copy initially has approximately two-thirds of the original tower’s toughness. His enlargement test does not produce the usual further loss of strength 63.
- Capacity: at their tested maximum size, each of the nine towers can barely hold three people 63.
- Duration at acquisition: nine fully expanded towers last approximately three minutes; three fully expanded towers last approximately nine minutes 63.
- Heavy expenditure: Qin Chao believes his reserves at that point permit only one full nine-tower activation 63.
- Combat reconfiguration: he splits an existing prison while keeping Yu Feng confined, deploys another tower to protect Xie Yue, and later merges the towers again 87.
- Estimated strength: Qin Chao believes even the nine-copy deployment could withstand a Soul King’s full-strength blow, but this is his assessment rather than a demonstrated feat 63.
Freezing and Scorching Properties
The tower acquires additional temperature effects from Qin Chao’s two immortal-grade poisonous herbs and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 95 96.
- White patterns — freezing: release mist that covers a trapped tree in frost and freezes its internal moisture, cracking the trunk 96.
- Red patterns — scorching: rapidly melt the ice, evaporate liquid, and leave the tree’s leaves curled, charred, and brittle 96.
- Current limit: the scorching property alone cannot completely incinerate the tree, even when Qin Chao increases his Soul Power output 96.
- Further growth: Qin Chao expects these effects to strengthen as he absorbs more of the herbs’ medicinal power; their eventual equivalence to additional Soul Rings remains speculation 96.
Weaknesses & Limitations
- Enlargement weakens the original structure. Larger enclosures consume more Soul Power and become easier to break. Qin Chao identifies this as a major obstacle to trapping multiple enemies together 43 62.
- Damage feeds back to Qin Chao. Cracks, heavy impacts, and attacks on the tower can cause pain, chest tightness, bleeding, or collapse in its owner 43 48 49.
- It is not poison-proof. The Man Faced Demon Spider’s venom passes through the Martial Soul into Qin Chao’s bloodstream; Ci Jie’s poisoned spikes similarly poison him through the damaged tower 9 49.
- Its hollow interior amplifies noise. The spider’s strikes produce metallic clashes loud enough to damage Qin Chao’s eardrums while he shelters inside 9.
- Resistance can exhaust its owner. Capturing the large, muscular Mandala Snake drains Qin Chao’s Soul Power and leaves him struggling to stabilize the shaking tower 22.
- Superior force can break it. Bibi Dong shatters it with a light tap, while Ci Jie’s Soul Elder-level Bloodthorn assault drives the two-ring tower toward collapse 15 49.
- Electrical conductivity endangers occupants. Qin Chao withdraws it before Yu Tianheng’s lightning attack lands because the tower is an excellent conductor and Xie Yue is inside 87.
- Entrap’s escape threshold is described inconsistently. Bibi Dong’s initial assessment gives an effective coverage of roughly two square meters and says enemies above rank twenty may escape; a later passage describes escape as requiring Soul Power more than twenty ranks above Qin Chao’s 15 58.
Story Role / Major Arcs
| Arc | Role and Outcome |
|---|---|
| Star Dou Great Forest | Shields Qin Chao from the Man Faced Demon Spider’s web and direct attacks, but cannot prevent poisoning. Xiao Wu and Er Ming intervene to save him 9. |
| Second-ring demonstrations | Overpowers Hu Liena’s probing Foxfire attack, accidentally scorches her clothes, and encloses Yue Guan. Bibi Dong subsequently tests Entrap and rewards Qin Chao’s progress with leave to visit home 12 14 15. |
| Tang San’s first Soul Ring | Qin Chao attempts to seize the Mandala Snake before Tang San can kill it. The tower catches both snake and boy in its suction, inadvertently helping Tang San finish the beast and obtain the ring 22. |
| Spirit Hall pressure assessment | Shelters Qin Chao, Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan from Demon Subduing Douluo’s pressure. The tower nearly breaks under his intensified assault before Bibi Dong intervenes; reduced pressure and renewed Soul Power repair some cracks 43. |
| Life-or-death assessment | Stops Ci Jie’s charge and traps him away from Hu Liena. Qin Chao maintains the prison through Bloodthorn long enough for Xie Yue to replace its failing defense, then recalls the badly damaged tower and collapses 47 48 49. |
| Holy Soul Village confrontation | Counters Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass and defeats his footwork with suction. Old Jack arrives just before Tang San is swallowed by the burning tower 58. |
| Heaven Dou Imperial Academy battle | Captures Yu Feng, extracts Xie Yue from danger, and provides an enclosure in which Xie Yue prepares Full Moon. Qin Chao withdraws it before Yu Tianheng’s lightning strike 86 87. |
| Mine descent | Becomes a climbing aid through paired copies and alternating suction, surprising Liu Erlong with a noncombat use of a control-type Martial Soul 102. |
Trivia
- 乾坤 refers to the Qian and Kun trigrams and carries associations with heaven and earth, the sun and moon, and yin and yang 7.
- Bibi Dong calls it a rare, all-purpose Martial Soul after it combines offense, defense, and a dedicated control skill 15.
- Its first skill is named Blazing Flames, but later passages also shorten the name to Flame 14 47.
