Everyone lay at the edge of the cliff, peering down.

They watched Menchi do a backflip and grab a strand of spider silk.

"Isn't she just getting herself killed?!" Leorio exclaimed in shock.

A gentle breeze drifted up from the bottom of the cliff.

Feeling the breeze, Menchi timed it just right and let go.

She grabbed an egg.

As Menchi gradually disappeared into the ravine, quite a few people lost the nerve to keep watching.

They got up, ready to leave.

Just then.

Menchi, whom everyone had assumed was already smashed to a pulp, reappeared before them with the egg still in her hand.

She had actually ridden the powerful wind from the bottom of the ravine back up.

Seeing everyone's baffled expressions, Cordis explained.

"Powerful air currents blow up from the bottom of the ravine."

"They could easily lift even someone weighing three hundred jin."

Then he lowered his head to look at the two little boys beside him and said seriously.

"Even so, you still need to be careful. Make sure you time it right before letting go."

Gon raised his hand and answered, "Got it!"

Killua merely snorted, ignoring Cordis.

Everyone copied Menchi's movements, jumping off the cliff and grabbing the spider silk.

But many of them still failed to get the timing right.

Before the air current arrived, they released the silk and dropped.

The outcome was easy to imagine.

They died at the bottom of the ravine with a Spider Egg in hand.

Just then, Cordis felt a gentle breeze brush his face.

"Let go!"

At his command, everyone released their grip without hesitation.

Once they had grabbed their Spider Eggs.

A powerful air current swept them out of the ravine.

Watching everyone emerge with eggs in their hands, Menchi smiled in satisfaction.

She pointed at them and said.

"I hereby declare!"

"Everyone passes!"

As the sun set, everyone enjoyed their sweet, fragrant boiled eggs.

Gon took his egg and ran up to Cordis.

"Cordis! Have a taste!"

The Spider Egg was several times larger than an ordinary egg, and Gon was still very small.

He had to cradle it in both hands.

Looking at the cooked Spider Egg, Cordis broke off a small piece and put it in his mouth.

There was a hint of sweetness mixed into the egg's flavor.

It really was delicious!

Gon noticed that Cordis seemed to have made something else instead of simply boiling his egg.

He had made an entire pot of it.

"Cordis, what's this?"

Cordis proudly rested his spoon on his shoulder and said.

"A specialty from my hometown. I bet you've never had it before."

Gon asked again, "Was that pork intestine dish a specialty from your hometown too?"

At the mention of pork intestines, Cordis felt a murderous gaze turn toward him from somewhere nearby.

He hurriedly scooped up a spoonful of freshly made Egg Custard and put it in Gon's mouth.

"Ahahaha! Gon, hurry and try it. How does it taste?"

Gon obediently took it into his mouth and chewed a couple of times.

His eyes instantly lit up!

"It's so good, Cordis!"

Seeing that, Cordis felt a surge of delight.

"Right? Right?"

Just then, Killua walked past, and Cordis waved him over.

Killua chose to ignore him outright.

But Cordis ended up dragging him over anyway.

Catching him off guard, Cordis shoved a spoonful of Egg Custard straight into his mouth.

"Well? Well? It's good, isn't it?"

With Cordis's face so close to his, Killua blushed and instinctively turned his head away.

"It's nothing special."

Only forty-odd applicants had passed the second exam.

Led by Netero, everyone boarded the Airship.

Netero swept his gaze over the remaining applicants before him, his expression turning serious.

"I can feel the tension coming off you. Very nice."

A green bean beside him said, "We won't arrive at the next exam site until eight tomorrow morning."

"Until then, you're free to do as you please. The cafeteria has healthy food."

"You're dismissed."

Everyone headed toward their rooms.

Still a little worried, the green bean reminded them again.

"Meet up at eight tomorrow morning!"

Everyone gave a halfhearted response, then trudged wearily toward their rooms.

The whole morning's events had worn them out.

Rubbing their sore backs and waists, they wanted nothing more than to collapse into bed and get some sleep.

"Killua! Let's go exploring!"

"Oh? Sure!"

Gon turned excitedly to Cordis. "Cordis, come play with us!"

Rubbing his aching lower back, Cordis looked at the two of them with envy.

"I'm so jealous of you two. After all that, you're still in the mood to play."

As he spoke, he bent down and pinched Gon's cheek.

"Don't get carried away, okay? Don't stay up too late. We still have to meet at eight tomorrow morning."

Gon nodded firmly, then pulled Killua along as they ran all over the Airship.

Cordis watched worriedly until the two disappeared from sight.

He decided to grab something to eat in the cafeteria before getting a good night's sleep.

Following the signs, he arrived at the cafeteria.

Looking at the uniformly green food on the plates, he was momentarily speechless.

They really meant "healthy food," huh.

Better to rely on myself than anyone else.

Cordis considered himself an excellent cook, so he rolled up his sleeves and charged into the kitchen.

He opened the refrigerator and found it packed with meat.

For the first time, he felt that this Hunter Association really was stingy.

There was clearly so much meat in the refrigerator, yet they wouldn't serve it to the applicants.

After looking through the selection.

He took out a few cuts that looked expensive, then kicked the refrigerator door shut.

He tore open the packaging, and a rich, meaty smell wafted out.

He fumbled around until he found the switch for the stove.

Sure enough, kitchens worked the same way no matter what world he was in.

He heated oil in a pan and fried the meat.

Before long, an aroma rose into the air.

He wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth.

After hastily putting the meat on a plate, he carried it to a table.

"Time to dig in!"

Just as Cordis was about to eat, a familiar figure caught his eye.

"Gittarackur!"

Still wearing Gittarackur's face, Illumi looked around.

From the look of it, he had come here because he was hungry too.

Cordis had admired Illumi's fashion sense from the very beginning.

He had followed him around, hoping to get his styling secrets.

Unfortunately, Hisoka had interrupted him.

This time...

Cordis cautiously scanned his surroundings, making sure Hisoka wasn't about to appear nearby, then greeted Illumi enthusiastically.

Illumi merely gave him a brief glance before choosing to ignore him outright.

The uniformly green spread before him clearly startled him too.

Even his twisting movements paused for a moment.

He grabbed some lettuce, found a seat, and started munching on it.

Seeing that Illumi wasn't paying him any attention, Cordis considered his options.

Wasn't there a saying that someone without shame was invincible?

What does him not wanting to talk to me have to do with me going over to him?

Aaaaaah!!!

Illumi, I'm your dog!!!
