With that, Chrollo left Cordis alone and headed off elsewhere, ostensibly to make some proper preparations.
Cordis stood there helplessly with the bow in his hand, wondering whether Kukarola would chase him down if he simply ran away.
At some point, Hisoka had leaned in against the back of his neck, also studying the bow in Cordis's hand. The gesture gave Cordis a fright.
He looked at Hisoka in surprise and said flatly, "You didn't leave?"
"Why would I leave~? I'm delighted to accompany our dear leader on his operation~," Hisoka replied airily.
"You might be delighted, but I'm not so sure Chrollo is," Cordis snarked.
Cordis put the bows away and headed toward the nearest inn. After thinking it over, he decided that if he suddenly ran away, he would most likely be dragged straight back.
Whether Chrollo would kill him then was another question entirely.
To avoid any unnecessary danger, Cordis decided to stay and keep Chrollo company for now. After all, he had quite a bit of faith in Chrollo's ability to charm women.
He opened his room door and plunged straight onto the bed.
Fortunately, Hisoka hadn't followed him this time. If he had, Cordis wouldn't have known what to do.
But none of that mattered. He had been exhausted these past few days, with barely any chance to sleep. At last, he could get some proper rest.
After checking the time on his phone, he fell straight asleep.
Before long, a phone call woke Cordis.
Still groggy, he picked up his phone, rubbed his eyes, and yawned. "Hello? Cordis speaking. Who's this?" he asked hoarsely.
The person on the other end paused for a moment before speaking.
"Cordis, don't tell me you just woke up. Look at the time."
Recognizing Chrollo's voice, Cordis jolted awake.
