"No big deal. I still have my right hand, but you probably can't run anymore, can you?"
Shoot said nothing. He seemed uncertain about his own condition too. Just as he lowered his head to think about their next move, Cordis suddenly cried out in pain.
That cry snapped Shoot back to the present.
Cordis had just tried using [Flowing Woman] to staunch the wound on his left arm, but he soon discovered that it was futile. His left hand had been severed too completely to repair.
Shoot hesitated for a moment at the sight, then reached over and tore the clothes off half of Cordis's body. He ripped the fabric into strips and used them as makeshift bandages to secure the stump of Cordis's left arm.
But Shoot's technique was hardly professional. The wrapping was as good as useless and only put Cordis through more pain.
Just then, dense banks of fog suddenly spread around them, and the sounds of fighting rose from the stairs again. They exchanged a glance, knowing their time to rest was over.
But both of them were practically half-crippled now. They had to choose whoever was less badly injured to step in. They absolutely could not afford a single mistake.
"I'll go." Cordis sprang to his feet.
He tore off the rest of his clothing as he rose, baring his upper body.
"You can't! Your hand..."
Before Shoot could finish, Cordis cut him off. "At least I can still run and jump. What are you going to do about your leg?"
Shoot considered that for a moment, then braced himself against the wall and stood again. He gave Cordis a broad smile. "I have my own way!"
Cordis had no idea what Shoot meant, but there was no time to think about it now.
