As the examinees took their seats one after another.
Netero began handing out Hunter Licenses to everyone.
Little Green Bean explained a few things they needed to know about their Hunter Licenses.
It was nothing more than the usual stuff.
Things like being careful not to let anyone steal them, or how they could use them as collateral to borrow a lot of money.
Once the Hunter Licenses had officially been handed out.
The Hunter Exam was officially over.
No one had any reason to stay there anymore, and everyone set off toward their own goals.
At the Fanchah Association's hotel, there was a Nen user whose ability could heal others.
With this doctor's help, Cordis.
Finally got rid of the cast that had been weighing him down.
But there was some very bad news.
His arm was slightly crooked, though it didn't affect his fighting or anything like that.
It did, however, look rather ugly.
This troubled Cordis a great deal.
All he could do now was hope he would meet a better doctor who could heal his arm completely.
Cordis looked at his slightly crooked arm.
Then lowered the sleeve he had kept rolled up. It felt a little awkward, but this was his only option for now.
"Cordis, Cordis, do you want to come back to Whale Island with me? I want to introduce you to Aunt Mito."
Gon held one of Cordis's hands as he spoke excitedly.
His eyes practically sparkled as he looked at Cordis.
He clearly really wanted to bring Cordis back to Whale Island.
Meanwhile, Killua held Cordis's other hand, his eyes filling with longing when he heard Gon mention Whale Island.
"I want to go too. Wherever Cordis goes, I'm going."
Gon readily agreed.
"Of course! Killua and I are friends. Let's all go together."
Killua froze for a moment at those words, then broke into a huge smile.
Cordis had been worried that the two might not get along, but it seemed he had been worrying for nothing.
Just then, Kurapika caught up with Cordis.
"Cordis!"
"Come train with me!"
As he spoke, he casually slung an arm around Cordis's neck and began imagining their future.
"We can take on jobs together, and that way we'll be able to watch each other's backs."
Gon, who had been pushed aside, wasn't happy to hear that.
"Kurapika, I asked Cordis to come to Whale Island with me first!"
Killua chimed in from the other side.
"Exactly! You're such an idiot, Kurapika!"
Kurapika, however, looked completely unbothered.
"That depends on who Cordis agrees to go with."
"Cordis is so strong. I'm sure he'd rather train with me."
Then he turned to Cordis, his eyes shining.
"Right?"
All three looked at Cordis with sparkling eyes.
They all seemed to be saying silently.
Say yes to me. Say yes to me.
That put Cordis in a bind. All three were so adorable that he genuinely didn't know whom to choose.
"Oh my~ What a shame~ It seems Pai Pai has already agreed to travel with me~"
At some point, Hisoka had leaned against a nearby pillar and begun watching them.
The playing cards in his hands kept shifting.
Everyone's face filled with disgust the moment they saw Hisoka.
Gon, in particular, clenched his fists at the sight of him and wanted to charge over and challenge him.
Fortunately, Cordis stopped him in the end.
Killua naturally didn't believe Hisoka's claim. Hisoka might be strong, but Killua wasn't afraid of him in the slightest.
He shot back immediately.
"You're a creep, Hisoka! Who would believe you?"
"Id-iot!"
Hisoka gave a helpless shrug at that.
"If you don't believe me, ask Pai Pai~"
Hisoka's confidence made Killua start to hesitate.
But he still didn't really believe him.
He looked up at Cordis.
Only to find a look of sudden realization on Cordis's face. Clearly, he had done something.
Cordis had long since completely forgotten his promise to accompany Hisoka to the Phantom Troupe.
Kurapika also noticed that something was off about Cordis's expression.
After a moment's hesitation, he asked.
"Cordis, you didn't really agree to go with Hisoka, did you?"
Cordis scratched his head and chuckled twice before replying sheepishly.
"I think I actually did..."
Those words left everyone there stunned.
Gon was the first to recover. Eyeing Hisoka warily, he asked.
"Cordis! Did Hisoka threaten you? Don't be afraid! I won't let him lay a finger on you!"
At that, Killua stepped in front of Cordis too, baring his sharp fingernails as he spoke.
"As long as I'm here, don't even think about taking Cordis away, Hisoka."
Seeing the two protect him without any regard for their own safety.
Moved Cordis to tears.
He reached out and gave both their heads a couple of firm pats.
"That's too hard, Cordis!"
"That hurts! You idiot!"
Cordis crouched down and pulled them both into his arms.
Leaning close to their ears, he said.
"Hisoka and I still have something important to do."
"Of course, you two can't slack off either. Go to Heavens Arena. Your real journey as Hunters has only just begun."
With that, he stood up, took a piece of paper and a pen from his pocket, and began scribbling something.
Once he finished, he handed the note to Kurapika.
"I know you really want to take on jobs. This place might help you."
Kurapika accepted the note and looked at Cordis.
"It seems I owe you another favor."
Cordis merely smiled without saying anything.
Then he turned, ready to leave with Hisoka.
Gon panicked a little and grabbed the hem of Cordis's clothes.
"Will we meet again?"
That question was all it took for even the usually strong Killua to look sad.
And tears began welling up in Gon's eyes.
Seeing this, Cordis bent down and wiped the tears from the corners of Gon's eyes, then reached out to stroke Killua's head, reassuring him not to be sad.
"September first. Let's meet in Yorknew City. Until then, make sure you train hard at Heavens Arena."
"September first?"
Gon murmured in confusion.
With that, Cordis followed Hisoka, ready to leave.
Kurapika watched Cordis gradually disappear from view, his heart filled with conflicting emotions.
Perhaps Cordis had known from the beginning that Hisoka belonged to the Spider.
He must also have known about the conversation Hisoka had had with Kurapika during their match.
Kurapika hated the Spider.
But he didn't want to become Cordis's enemy.
All he could do now was pray.
Pray that Cordis didn't have too much of a connection to the Spider.
I'm honestly speechless.
What have some Hunter fanfics turned Gon into?
I really don't understand how some people can have so much malice toward Gon.
In one Hunter novel, Kurapika actually joined the Spider later on!
You're supposed to change the plot, not butcher it.
And there were actually a bunch of people in the comments fucking defending it.
The characterization was completely ruined.
I'm writing this fanfic with respect for the original. Nothing like Killua and Gon not being friends will happen here.
Nor will Kurapika just join the Spider.
That will absolutely never happen!
I'm not going to name the novel.
I saw loads of people recommending it, but anyone who genuinely loves Hunter x Hunter wouldn't be able to keep reading it.
