He smiled helplessly and peeled Gon off him.
After settling him comfortably,
he got up and walked out onto the balcony to feel the morning breeze.
He couldn't get back to sleep once he was up anyway, and the air on Whale Island was noticeably better than in the big cities.
Every breath carried the scent of grass.
Just as Cordis was enjoying the grass-scented air to his heart's content, a call from an unidentified number suddenly came in.
Cordis's first reaction was that this was another of Hisoka's pointless pranks.
He frowned and hung up immediately.
Just as Cordis was about to put his phone away, the same number called again.
Cordis hung up again without even looking.
Whoever was on the other end must have gone mad. He'd hung up twice, yet they kept calling.
Furious, Cordis answered the phone and launched into a tirade before the other person could speak.
"Hisoka! You bastard! Do you have any idea what time it is?!"
After venting his anger, Cordis wondered why Hisoka still hadn't said anything.
Normally, he would already have been spouting sleazy nonsense in that obnoxious tone of his.
After a long pause, the person on the other end finally spoke.
"Are you in a bad mood, Cordis?"
The voice was gentle, but although it was a question, there was something irresistible about it.
It was Chrollo.
What did he want with me?
Perhaps, in Cordis's eyes, Chrollo was even more dangerous than Hisoka.
Hisoka was certainly scheming too.
But at least he voiced some of his thoughts.
With Chrollo, there was truly no telling what he was thinking.
He might be smiling gently while plotting to kill you.
With that seemingly harmless face, he would lead you step by step into a trap he'd painstakingly designed
