At those words, the crowd of Clones turned pale with shock.
"What?!"
"No! We can't!"
"Still... that really is our only option now..."
"But!..."
All the Clones seemed terrified of [Carnage Kabuto], as though he had left them with some deeply traumatic memories.
"Don't panic. That's only a last resort."
Dr. Genus said grimly, "The building aboveground is full of traps. They might never even make it here. Besides, you all know what the consequences of this crisis could be..."
As she was leaving, Fubuki almost forgot about [Eyelashes] and [Mountain Ape], whom Bai Ye had sent flying earlier.
She finally found her two subordinates in a nearby dumpster. Apparently, they had landed right inside it after Bai Ye sent them flying.
Seeing that they were still unconscious, Fubuki had no choice but to wake them.
A little while later, [Eyelashes] and [Mountain Ape] both came to.
They hurriedly scrambled out of the dumpster, looking thoroughly bedraggled.
"Miss Fubuki! What happened to us..."
Neither [Eyelashes] nor [Mountain Ape] could remember what had happened.
All they remembered was getting ready to teach that arrogant newcomer a lesson. Everything after that was a blank.
"Don't ask. Let's go back."
Fubuki spoke without expression.
"All right..."
[Eyelashes] and [Mountain Ape] could only straighten their clothes, then follow behind Fubuki while supporting each other.
They were the second- and third-ranked B-Class Heroes, after all. Even being hurled from such a height hadn't done them any serious harm. They had only suffered minor injuries that temporarily made it difficult to move.
On the way back, [Eyelashes] couldn't help asking, "Miss Fubuki, did we fail? What happened with [Kamui]..."
"We failed. His abilities are far more powerful than we imagined."
Fubuki admitted it in an even tone.
Although she didn't think Bai Ye could compare to monsters among monsters like [Sweet Mask], and especially her sister, she couldn't deny that he was powerful enough to be called a monster himself.
"I see..."
Eyelashes and Mountain Ape both fell silent.
They assumed Miss Fubuki was in a bad mood.
Fubuki said nothing more after that.
But contrary to what Eyelashes and Mountain Ape thought, Fubuki wasn't in a bad mood at all. In fact, she felt a little excited and happy.
They returned to the [Blizzard Group]'s base.
"Lady Fubuki, you're hurt?!"
Lily noticed that Fubuki's clothes were a little disheveled, as though someone had attacked her.
"Yes, but I'm fine. Just a few scratches."
Fubuki waved it off.
"Did that guy hurt you, Lady Fubuki? That's unforgivable!"
Lily was instantly furious. "I'm going to give him a piece of my mind!"
"Don't be rash. Bai Ye wasn't the one who hurt me."
Fubuki immediately stopped her. "None of you should antagonize him from now on. He actually saved me this time. Otherwise, there's no telling what would have happened to me..."
Remembering Beast King and Armored Gorilla, she couldn't imagine what the consequences would have been if Bai Ye hadn't saved her...
"Oh, so does that mean he's joined our [Blizzard Group]?"
Lily couldn't help asking.
"More or less."
Fubuki nodded. She already had a few ideas in mind...
"I see. So he does know what's good for him."
Lily seemed to be in quite a good mood.
After Fubuki left, Lily eagerly opened LINE on her phone and sent Bai Ye a message.
"I heard you've joined the [Blizzard Group]. Lady Fubuki's charm won you over after all, didn't it?"
"I can give you a tour of the [Blizzard Group]'s base sometime."
"By the way, what happened to Lady Fubuki? Did you run into a monster over in No Man's Land?"
Lily sent several messages in a row, but Bai Ye never replied. The messages remained marked "unread," and he hadn't come online.
Bai Ye was currently running toward the [House of Evolution]. Since he was heading into battle, he hadn't brought his phone.
Bai Ye, Saitama, and Genos ran from No Man's Land in Z City to the [House of Evolution] deep in the mountains and forests. The journey took them a full four hours.
Although Bai Ye knew its general location, he had never been there, so he couldn't teleport straight there using Dual Kamui or the Flying Thunder God Technique.
Saitama had no idea which way to go, so he didn't dare use his terrifying jumping power to cover an enormous distance in a single leap.
Genos knew the route, but seeing that both Master Bai Ye and Mr. Saitama were running on foot, he had no choice but to run along with them.
Bai Ye could actually have used the Body Flicker Technique to travel, but he wanted to keep a low profile in front of Saitama. Taking Saitama along with the Body Flicker Technique would only have felt a little strange...
And so, the three of them ran all the way to the [House of Evolution]'s base.
"This should be the base that Armored Gorilla told us about."
Bai Ye could now see a tall building in the distance, surrounded by forested mountains.
When they reached the foot of the building, Genos opened fire without a word.
He planted his feet in a wide stance and aimed both hands at the building before him.
Boom!!
The incineration cannons in both hands fired at full power, instantly blasting the entire building into rubble and even producing a small mushroom cloud.
The blast even gouged a huge chunk out of the hill behind the building. This was the power Genos possessed after Dr. Kuseno's latest upgrades.
With that single blast from Genos, all the countless traps inside the building became utterly useless.
"Uh... what are you doing? That was way too sudden."
Saitama stared at Genos in bewilderment.
"I believe this is the most efficient approach. Is there a problem?"
Genos asked in return.
"That makes sense, but you're being way too brutal."
Saitama quipped.
"Let's go down here. The real base should be underneath us."
Meanwhile, Bai Ye had already found the entrance to the underground laboratory.
"So it wasn't that simple after all. The building on the surface was just an empty shell."
Genos immediately realized the issue.
"Then let's hurry down."
Saitama said.
The three entered the underground passage, officially making their way into the [House of Evolution]'s base...
[Ding! The host has arrived at the House of Evolution's base. Reward received: 5 points!]
PS: As for how I handled Fubuki's storyline, you can probably tell that I used the same approach as the original and added some details of my own. But I know some readers will still be unhappy, and that's what makes this so difficult for me. No work can satisfy every reader; it's only a matter of satisfying 90% or 99% of them. And Fubuki happens to be the hardest character to handle... (A later addendum: Fubuki's storyline has been rewritten, so you can ignore this note.)
