Dina's request put A Luo in a difficult position.
If she had been on her own, doing such a small favor would hardly have mattered.
But Malena was in such terrible shape now. Rather than staying in this city that caused her so much pain, perhaps A Luo ought to take her away as soon as possible and slowly heal the wounds left in her heart.
But could she simply refuse Dina's request?
A Luo couldn't quite bring herself to do it.
Besides, there was that long list of names.
Those people had all been accomplices and perpetrators in reducing her mom to this state.
A Luo couldn't stomach letting them get away with it, either.
And then there was the baby in her mom's womb.
As for whether to keep the baby or have it aborted at a hospital, A Luo felt it would be best to let her mom make that decision herself when she was lucid.
After wrestling with it for a while, A Luo looked at Dina.
"How about this? I'll talk it over with my mom in a bit. Once we've decided what to do next, I'll give you an answer. Does that work for you?"

With A Luo putting it that way, Dina had no room to object. She could only nod in agreement.
After Dina left, A Luo helped Malena finish breakfast. Looking at the haggard, frail mother she had inherited, the girl could no longer stop her eyes from reddening.
