Josen put down the newspaper in his hands without getting up. "Please, sit. The two gentlemen behind you, too. Would you like anything to drink?"
"No, thank you. This will only be a brief meeting."
Edgar looked at the handsome, impassive young face beneath the baseball cap and sighed inwardly.
Supes really were all cut from the same cloth.
With the strength to face Homelander head-on, this young man certainly had reason to be proud.
Then again, what young man wasn't hotheaded?
"Then let's hear it. What instructions do you have for me, Mr. President, asking me out here so suddenly?"
The Black president interlaced his fingers, trying to make his words more persuasive. "I came here for two reasons. First, to meet the most powerful superhero currently in the Seven..."
The Black president was only halfway through when Josen "politely" interrupted him.
"Then you've come to the wrong person. Homelander isn't here right now."
"I'm a loyal fan of his!"
Seeing that Josen wouldn't admit it, Edgar smiled and patiently continued.
"Of course. Homelander's power is beyond question."
"Let's set that subject aside for now. My second reason for coming here was to learn your thoughts. Or rather, what do you think of the Seven as they are now?"
Josen wore the same smile as Edgar, the younger and older fox meeting each other's eyes.
"You're blaming me for taking it upon myself to eliminate the Deep, Mr. President."
His tone was matter-of-fact.
"No, no, no. Defective products must be recalled or returned to the factory as quickly as possible. That's how we prevent greater losses."
Edgar showed remarkable composure, not losing his poise at Josen's challenge. His voice was full of sincerity.
"On behalf of Vought International, thank you for helping us resolve a major problem in time."
