"Fire Fist" Blaze nodded, a flattering smile on his face. "He did give me a few assignments in a private capacity, asking me to conceal my identity and take care of some shady business for him. The payments still came through the Hero Association's official account."
Josen curled his lip. "He even used public funds to pay for private jobs? Is he that stingy?"
"Fire Fist" Blaze chuckled awkwardly. "I saved recordings and videos of every meeting with him on the USB drive, along with the illegal private assets my original body uncovered under his name."
"Well done." Josen smiled and nodded as he raised a hand. The black USB drive on the table floated up and landed in his palm. "What else? Didn't he promise you any other benefits?"
At the moment, he had sent F-kid and all ten Shadow Clones out to work, so none of them were with him.
Otherwise, Josen would already have had F-kid activate his Stand Ability and seal the USB drive inside a card for safekeeping, as usual.
"He actually did," "Fire Fist" Blaze recalled. "I've earned a measure of his trust now. He told me to keep up the good work, and said he'd recommend me to his superiors when the time was right. Then I'd have a chance to make even more money."
"Heh. His superiors."
Josen sneered.
"Sooner or later, I'll take the whole lot of them down."
"A middle manager is just a small fry. Keep following that lead. Report back when you dig up something big."
Josen put away the USB drive and gave the instructions casually.
"Yes, understood," "Fire Fist" Blaze said. "Then I'll be going, boss."
"All right, off you go."
With their exchange of information complete, Blaze immediately rose, said goodbye, and left.
