Josen shot Kyoko a disdainful look, then turned to Katherine and nodded. "No problem. Where's the transport vehicle you brought? I can hand everything over whenever you're ready."
"It's parked in the police station's parking lot... Hmm? Whenever I'm ready?" Katherine paused. Once she worked through what he meant, she couldn't help asking, "Are you carrying that shipment of weapons with you?"
"You could say that." Josen stood up. "Think of it as Psychic Powers."
"That's wonderful!"
Although Katherine hadn't witnessed it herself, she had heard about Josen using his Psychic Powers to save a large number of police officers, so this came as no surprise.
But when they reached the parking lot and Josen activated his Stand Ability, unpacking the "Private Armory" he had obtained from Kingpin and covering more than half the lot with energy weapons of various models, the capable commissioner from A City was utterly dumbstruck.
"It's all here."
"Th-this... this..."
Recovering from her shock, Katherine no longer cared about losing her composure. She immediately ordered her accompanying subordinates to load the weapons into the vehicle, while her gaze on Josen grew increasingly heated.
From the look of things, as long as Josen nodded, she certainly wouldn't mind something happening between them.
Pah!
Behind him, Kyoko narrowed her eyes and spat inwardly, Shameless pair!
Hmm?
Sensing the young policewoman's lively inner thoughts with his Psychic Power, Josen couldn't help turning his head slightly.
I haven't even done anything yet. What gives you the right to lump me in with her?
Well, I'm not letting you insult me for nothing.
... A scene break under heavy fire...
The night passed without further incident.
Click.
Half asleep, Saitama heard a door closing outside his bedroom and pushed his own door open, his eyes bleary.
"Oh, Josen. Were you busy until now?"
"Yeah, something came up. Kept me busy all night," Josen replied, setting the bag in his hand on the table. "I brought you breakfast. Come eat after you've washed up."
"That smells great!" Saitama sniffed and immediately perked up. "Roger that! I'll go wash up right now!"
When he saw Katherine off that morning, she mentioned that the commendation and promotion orders from Headquarters were already on their way.
Previously, his lack of seniority had prevented the Director from promoting Josen, even though he wanted to. But with this latest achievement added in, Josen would have to move up at least two ranks.
Josen didn't particularly care about such things. His identities as a public servant and a hero brought him a certain degree of convenience, but they weren't his whole life.
With his current strength, obtaining or enjoying anything he wanted was easy.
But what distinguished humans from other animals was their ability to control their desires.
Those unable to control their inner desires had long since mutated into all sorts of bizarre monsters. Their strength might skyrocket, instantly taking them from small fry to the pinnacle of Dragon-level threats, but in front of Saitama's fist, there was really no difference.
As a young man of the new century with all four essentials-a salary, free time, good looks, and a cheat-Josen had no intention of trying such a losing transformation.
He wasn't Garou. Why refuse to stay a perfectly good human and insist on becoming a monster?
Z City, train station.
Tap, tap.
A tall, fair-skinned figure stepped off the newly arrived high-speed train. Her shoulder-length black hair fluttered in the wind along with the hem of her dark green dress. Her angelic face was beautiful and alluring, and her devilish figure boasted curves in all the right places.
"Isn't that Hellish Blizzard from the Psychic Sisters? She's actually come to Z City!"
"She's so cool! I've seen her on the news. She and her little sister, Tatsumaki something-or-other, are both heroes!"
"Uh, Fubuki is actually the younger sister! Some fan you are!"
"... Huh? With a figure like that, she's the younger sister?"
Ignoring the chatter around her, Fubuki had long since grown accustomed to being the center of attention wherever she went.
Her emerald eyes swept her surroundings, and she gave a soft snort.
"It really is the lowest-ranked city. Even the infrastructure is far behind."
After offering this brief assessment of her first impression of Z City, Fubuki strolled off the platform, her graceful figure disappearing through the exit.
Leaving the station, Fubuki climbed straight into a taxi waiting for passengers by the roadside.
She crossed her shapely, long legs, without an ounce of excess fat on them, propped her cheek on one hand, and instructed, "The police station."
Dashu, the driver, had been reading a magazine to pass the time while waiting for a fare. Suddenly finding a fair-skinned, stunningly beautiful woman with a cool demeanor in his back seat, he was overwhelmed by the aristocratic aura surrounding her and could barely get his words out. "Y-yes, miss! I-I-I... I'll get going right away!"
Performing a maneuver well beyond what its specifications should have allowed, the taxi spun its tires furiously, leaving smoke and skid marks in its wake as it launched forward and sped away.
Ten minutes later.
The veteran Z City driver, fired up beyond belief, overtook car after car, carving a path through the packed morning rush hour and reaching the gates of the Z City Police Station in the shortest possible time.
"M-miss, mission accomplished! The police station is right ahead!"
"Nice driving, mister." Fubuki uncrossed her legs, and a ten-thousand-yen bill wrapped in Psychic Power floated in front of the driver. "Keep the change as a tip. Thanks~"
"N-not at all. It's my honor to serve you, miss... Oh, she's already gone."
The middle-aged driver clutched the bill, but his distracted gaze followed the graceful figure walking into the police station. Inhaling the faint fragrance still lingering in the car, he felt his earlier excitement cool. Only after a long while did he wilt like a frostbitten plant and drive away, filled with a sense of loss.
Clearly, this city would have one more brokenhearted soul tonight.
The police station lobby.
Fubuki folded her arms across her chest. Seeing no response from the officer at reception, she raised a slender eyebrow and tapped her knuckles against the counter.
Tap, tap, tap.
The duty officer snapped out of his daze, hurriedly wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth, and straightened his back as though he'd been pumped full of adrenaline.
"Hello, miss! I'm duty officer PCZ9421. Are you here for administrative services, an inquiry, or to report a crime? I'll assist you every step of the way!"
"I'm looking for someone." Fubuki scanned the staff information on the wall, her gaze settling on the ID photo of a handsome male officer. "There. Him."
The duty officer took a closer look, and flames of jealousy instantly filled his eyes. "Hmm... Josen!?"
"... One moment. I'll contact him for you."
The Special Affairs Section.
Ring, ring. The phone on the desk rang. With a practiced twist of her slender waist, Kyoko propelled her wheeled office chair smoothly over to the desk holding the phone and picked up.
"Hello, Special Affairs Section."
The duty officer's voice came through the receiver. "This is reception. Someone is here to see Officer Josen, the Special Affairs Section chief."
"Why is someone looking for him again?"
Kyoko frowned and muttered under her breath. Thinking of the dangerously busty woman who had arrived just yesterday, she felt her woman's intuition sound a frantic alarm.
