On the way back, Xu Zhiqiu clutched her cloth bag without saying a word, keeping some distance from him.
Sensitive to her feelings, Naraku sensed her rejection. He raised a hand, wanting to touch Xu Zhiqiu, but finally let it fall and turned to look elsewhere. "Hadn't you already left? Why did you come back?"
"I only came back to return something." As Xu Zhiqiu spoke, she took Hengdao out of her cloth bag and held it out to him. "It's yours. Take it back."
Naraku did not take it. He snorted. "I, Naraku, have not sunk so low as to demand back something I gave you."
"Oh." Xu Zhiqiu nodded and stuffed it back inside.
Fine, then. She would leave it in the Castle when she left.
They arrived at his Castle.
The air was even thicker now than when she had left.
How much foul gas had he released to turn it into this?
Xu Zhiqiu took just one breath, and her expression changed several times. That smell...
She quickly pinched her nose. She knew why Naraku had brought her back now. He wanted her to die slowly in the miasma.
How vicious.
She had no idea what she had done to him, and he would not tell her when she asked. He was not the one left stewing in frustration-she was.
Only after she entered the building did the smell become more bearable.
Xu Zhiqiu headed toward the room where she had stayed before, but she had barely taken a step when Naraku called to her from ahead.
"Follow me."
"Oh."
The two walked one behind the other.
Xu Zhiqiu watched Naraku enter a room, then stopped at the doorway and looked at him. "If there's something you want to ask, just tell me directly."
"Come in."
