A chain thick enough to wrap both arms around burst out of the ground, coiling around Sunflowmon again and again and lifting her into the air. Everyone focused on Belphemon and finally noticed that he stood with both feet planted on the ground, with one of the chains on his body driven into the earth.
"Damn it. I underestimated Belphemon's intelligence," Thomas said regretfully. Now Sunflowmon would have to pay for his mistaken decision.
"You humans really are too arrogant." Belphemon laughed loudly, preparing to execute Sunflowmon.
"Burning Bancho Fist!" Behind Belphemon, BanchoLeomon threw a heavy punch at the back of his head.
"Hmph. I've been waiting for you." Belphemon sneered and whipped the chain binding Sunflowmon aside, hurling her at BanchoLeomon. If BanchoLeomon ignored Sunflowmon, she would die here. If he chose to rescue her, he would leave himself completely exposed to Belphemon's attack.
Just as everyone began to despair, Sunflowmon, tumbling helplessly through the air, suddenly smiled. She twisted her face toward Belphemon at an impossible angle. "Sunshine!"
A Champion Digimon's attacks were meaningless against a Mega Digimon. But sunshine had an exceptionally powerful effect on Belphemon. Apollomon's Sunshine Fist, for instance, could cut Belphemon's fighting strength in half. Though Sunflowmon's Sunshine was nowhere near that powerful, it was enough to drive Belphemon into a frenzy.
"Argh! Damn humans! You worthless scum! I'll make you pay!" This sort of frenzy had its own name in the Human World: morning grumpiness. Apollomon's sunshine could keep Belphemon from sleeping, while Sunflowmon's sunshine could only make him cranky after waking.
"Yoshino, let me digivolve. As long as I become an Ultimate, I can face Belphemon." The weakened Sunflowmon pleaded with her, but Yoshino shook her head vehemently, refusing to let Sunflowmon continue fighting.
"Flash Bancho Punch!"
"Nightmare Claw!"
"Burning Bancho Fist!"
