Background / History

Before becoming a feared church leader, Nuomi sold illustrated books on the streets while dressed in rags and tried to sell homemade Soul Tools to powerful Soul Masters. Several Spirit Hall Titled Douluos remember giving him money or patronizing his business during this period 163.

His lifelong ambition is a world where Soul Masters no longer reign supreme and everyone can be equal. He pursues this ideal through the Nuomi Church’s doctrine of “a world united in harmony,” drawing inspiration from an unnamed person whom he admires 112 155.

Nuomi spends more than a decade researching Blood Qi. Cao De’s ability to fuse with Blood Pearls becomes central to his work: he believes studying the fusion bearer could make his ultimate goal attainable 114 123.

Appearance

  • Ordinary appearance: Handsome, with dark hair, fair skin, and white robes 47 107 163.
  • Research attire: Wears a monocle while engraving Soul Tools 114.
  • Empowered appearance: His pupils turn blood-red, bloody mist gathers around him, and his white robes become crimson. At greater intensity, strange red runes appear across his exposed skin 114 165.

Personality

Nuomi combines an egalitarian ideal with ruthless research methods. He insists that being the church’s leader gives him no right to decide whether followers live or die, orders Sacrifice Stones to be offered only to willing volunteers, and gives followers permission to leave a doomed battle. Nevertheless, he shows no concern for slain guards while pursuing Cao De and considers dissecting Snow Woman to investigate her divine inheritance 108 122 155 167.

He is methodical and cautious, calculating his chances before committing his forces. His preparations include planted tracking devices, backup locators, and the deliberate mobilization of overwhelming numbers against a single opponent 107 114 120.

His curiosity often outweighs fear or anger. Unfamiliar techniques, divine power, and even injuries inflicted on him become research opportunities. He remains smiling under severe physical torture and treats his failed Far North operation as “merely a little wind and frost” 121 125 167 168.

Abilities & Skills

Soul Ring Fusion Array

Nuomi commands blood-red formations assembled from his followers’ Soul Rings, using their combined power to dominate the enclosed battlefield 107 120 170.

  • Reinforces space and prevents Cao De from using ordinary spatial escape techniques 107 108 121.
  • Suppresses Soul Power, shatters domains, and immobilizes opponents through invisible force, red threads, or chains 108 114 124.
  • Allows him to perceive extremely subtle spatial fluctuations inside the formation 107.
  • Uses commands including “Suppress,” “Surround,” “Close,” and “Trinity” to alter the formation’s behavior 109 110.
  • Can link willing followers across the continent and channel Blood Qi into Cao De 170.
  • Depends on its contributors’ endurance: prolonged operation strains his subordinates, and the formation approaches collapse when they reach their limits 114 123 167.

Spatial Movement and Confinement

Nuomi repeatedly teleports during combat and uses formations to transport groups 107 122.

  • Inverse Shadow Main Formation moves him, three companions, and their captive out of the mountain cave 107.
  • Teleports without visibly summoning Soul Rings and moves through space sealed against ordinary spatial movement during his fight with the Angel God 164 165.
  • Uses confinement powerful enough to compress the space around the Rakshasa God, though the god breaks free 168.
  • Cannot teleport while trapped by Cao De’s Energy Armorization or within the Rakshasa God’s domain 166 167.

Regeneration

Nuomi survives catastrophic bodily injuries and regenerates lost limbs 166 167.

  • Heals a pierced neck and repeatedly tears off his own limbs to escape physical restraints 166 167.
  • Regrows an arm severed by the Rakshasa God and recovers from extensive bodily deformation 167 168.
  • Followers’ sacrifices restore his body, but the divine attack remaining in his Spiritual Sea erodes his mental power faster than it can recover, making death inevitable 169.

Myriad Books

His Martial Soul takes the form of a pitch-black book whose turning pages summon phantom Soul Beasts 169.

  • Sends multiple Soul Beast phantoms to attack the Rakshasa God 169.

Five-Colored Illusion

Nuomi develops this incapacitating poison using divine power contained within a divine artifact 164.

  • Releases multicolored gas that induces hallucinations and strips victims of their ability to fight 164.
  • Intended to disable Cao De before transporting him through the formation 164.
  • Fails against Cao De because Energy Armorization completely blocks the poison; Cao De merely pretends to be affected 166.

Soul Tool Engineering and Divine Research

Nuomi invents tracking devices, studies divine power, and modifies weapons for use against gods 119 156 171.

  • Creates tracking compasses and recognizes that mental-power shielding obstructs their signals at long range, but not necessarily nearby 119.
  • Thoroughly analyzes the Rakshasa God’s deposited divine power, then makes it rupture and severs the god’s connection to Divine Artifact Fragments 156 159.
  • Helps refine fusion Soul Beasts invented by his followers. Ordinary people can operate them, though their attacks are ineffective against the Rakshasa God 172.
  • Inscribes a triangular pyramid with formation patterns and the Rakshasa God’s Divine Artifact Fragments during their final battle 171.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Sealed Blood Pearl — Carries a Blood Pearl sealed against Cao De’s absorption 107.

  • Tracking compass and planted Soul Tool — Used to pursue Cao De after his initial escape 107 119.
  • Backup iron token — A locator retained from forging Bibi Dong’s Pope Token; reveals Cao De’s position when her locator is used 120.
  • Triangular Box — A self-developed Soul Tool that blocks sound and images 112.
  • Seal-Print Tracker — A white box integrated into the formation to track Snow Woman’s emergence; using it consumes substantial mental power 109 110.
  • Monocle and Engraving Knife — Used while carving a stone Soul Tool 114.
  • Black divine disc — Intercepts Cao De’s strongest sword strike; Nuomi later causes it to shatter 167.
  • Patterned black boxes — Store destructive power associated with patterns found in Slaughter City; their detonation devastates the battlefield and badly injures the Rakshasa God 168.
  • Sacrifice Stones — Offered to willing followers as a final trump card. Nuomi ultimately crushes his own stone during his sacrifice 155 173.

Relationships

  • Cao De — Initially his principal research target as the Blood Pearl Fusion Bearer. Becomes an ally after Cao De sends Shadow to save him; Nuomi’s final sacrifice supplies energy that completes Cao De’s ninth Soul Ring 107 169 170 173.
  • Shadow — A subordinate whom Nuomi devoted considerable effort to training. Her unexplained disappearance leaves him angry and sorrowful; she later returns to rescue him on Cao De’s orders 47 169.
  • Against the Shadow — Trusted subordinate involved in formations and experiments. Nuomi explains his principles concerning voluntary sacrifice to him 134 155.

  • Ling Yun — Entrusted with guarding Snow Woman, commanding formations, and studying Divine Artifact Fragments 114 159.

  • Snow Woman — Captive and research subject whose Blood Qi and divine inheritance interest him. Her sacrifice-powered domain prevents him from capturing Cao De in the Far North 108 114 124.
  • Bibi Dong — Former Soul Tool customer and later opponent; Nuomi forged her Pope Token and subsequently uses its backup locator against her rescue party 120 122.
  • Rakshasa God — A would-be patron whom Nuomi deceives for research material, then fights alongside Cao De 135 159 169.
  • Clear Sky Sect’s First Elder — Persuaded to stage a diversion through Tang Chen’s Ring and Nuomi’s oath to disclose its origin 161.
