After leaving the Yeager house, Erwin said to Chen Si and Levi, "Levi, Chen Si, keep watch over the enemies. Get a carriage to transport them in a little while. It's time we returned to the walls."
"We're not executing them?" Levi asked.
"If we can contact an enemy nation of Marley, we'll dispose of them. If we can't, we'll have to use these two to contact Marley. Though the Eldia people have low status, Marley relies on Titans to hold its battle lines. It certainly can't afford to lose them. Then we can demand whatever we want," Erwin slowly explained.
"Understood," Levi said.
"Zeke holds a fairly high position in Marley's military. We might be able to get exactly what we want through him," Chen Si said slowly.
"What makes you so sure that bearded bastard will cooperate with us?" Levi asked, narrowing his dead-fish eyes.
"Because he cares enough about Eren." The corners of Chen Si's mouth curled slightly.
On the return journey, Zeke and Pieck were transported in separate carriages to prevent them from exchanging signals and escaping. Levi guarded Pieck, while Chen Si guarded Zeke.
In the carriage, Chen Si turned his back to Zeke and worked on changing his expression. He began hypnotizing himself, filling his mind with sad memories. Soon, his face was full of sorrow, longing, and compassion.
Chen Si turned to look at the tightly bound Zeke. With a wave of his hand, he unleashed a bolt of lightning that severed Zeke's ropes, then removed the wooden gag from his mouth.
Zeke had no idea why Chen Si was suddenly doing something so inexplicable as releasing him, but he seized the opportunity without a word and immediately tried to bite the webbing between his thumb and index finger.
