After the meeting ended, Chen Si went to find Historia at once.
"Historia, I'm going to help you form a cabinet. I want power concentrated in your hands. This will protect you, too," Chen Si told Historia solemnly.
"All right." Historia had wanted to refuse, but when she saw Chen Si's resolute expression, she agreed.
"Chen Si, could you stop making Kenny follow me everywhere? I don't like it." Historia frowned and pouted.
Chen Si reached out and gently pinched Historia's delicate, upturned nose. "This world is far more complicated than we think. I'll need to go to the front lines later, and you'll need someone to protect you. But I'll tell Kenny to keep his distance."
"Well, it's not that I don't want him following me, but he's a cranky old man, and he's nasty to everyone. He pulls out his gun at the slightest provocation," Historia complained.
"Huh? He treats you like that?" Chen Si's temper flared at her words.
"No, no, he treats the other officials that way. And whenever I go out on inspections, he scares off any residents who try to approach me. If only he were a woman," Historia said with a sigh.
"A woman?" Chen Si thought for a moment, then smiled. "I understand. I've got a good candidate."
"Really?" Historia asked, delighted.
"Yes. I'll have her become your maid when the time comes." Chen Si nodded. The candidate he had in mind was Ymir, the freckled girl from the original story who had yet to appear.
Ymir and Historia had been through similar experiences. Even if they met later, Ymir was bound to feel protective of Historia to some extent. She would make a suitable maid, though there was the matter of her combat skills... I'll have Kenny train her.
