Light gathered, and Chen Si plunged underground.
The underground fortifications before him had become a sea of fire, utterly engulfed in flames. Explosions erupted one after another as mud, sand, and torrents of rock poured in, burying everything below.
A gigantic crater opened in the ground, spanning the entire block.
Supported by Mina, Hange looked stricken with grief, tears glimmering at the corners of her eyes.
"This was a scheme by the Special Operations Department. They spread false information about a drug that could extend a Titan's lifespan to lure you here, all to wear Chen Si down and seriously injure him."
"Professor Mogwin saved me. He also gave me all the blueprints and research results from his life's work, asking nothing in return. But he didn't want to cling to life anymore," Hange said.
Their expressions shifted from shock and pain to deep emotion. They grieved that Sasha could not escape the curse on her lifespan, and were moved that an enemy had saved them.
The light drifted past like flowing sand, and Chen Si landed on the ground. He had heard everything they had just said.
He looked at the briefcase in Hange's hands, unable to calm the turmoil within him.
"Like father, like daughter, indeed."
This contest had gone far beyond anything he had anticipated. Just four agents, with human bodies and strength no greater than ants compared to his, had caused him endless trouble. They were admirable, yet tragic.
Chen Si had to admit that they were formidable opponents. Had this been a war between evenly matched sides, he and the Survey Corps would probably have perished long ago amid their repeated strategic deceptions. Unfortunately, war had never been fair.
In the end, his power had still brought about their defeat.
*Defeat... wear me down... seriously
