Bai Yu got out of the carriage some distance from the Survey Corps headquarters. He left Xiate and Ming there to watch Rod, then headed straight toward the headquarters himself.
He quietly climbed onto the perimeter wall to survey the situation. He had arrived at just the right time: Survey Corps soldiers were escorting members of the Military Police Brigade into a room under guard. There was no sign of the Military Police Brigade having suppressed the Survey Corps, which was much as he had expected.
Seeing that, he headed straight for the main gate. Survey Corps soldiers were stationed all around the grounds. When they saw someone approaching, they moved to stop him, but relaxed slightly once they recognized Bai Yu. Then they noticed the blood on his clothes, and concern crossed their faces.
"Bai Yu, what happened to you..."
Bai Yu shook his head lightly to show that he was fine, then looked at the soldier before him.
"Enmi, where's Commander Erwin?"
Enmi still looked worried, but aside from the blood on Bai Yu's clothes, he could see no wounds, and his complexion looked normal. Though puzzled, he led him inside.
"What's the situation here?"
Enmi shook his head slightly as well.
"I'm not too sure either, but Commander Erwin must have his reasons."
Despite those words, Bai Yu could see the worry in his eyes, so he asked no more questions.
They quickly reached the office door, and Bai Yu knocked.
"Come in."
Erwin's voice came from inside. Bai Yu opened the door, finding that Erwin was far from the only person seated there.
