Shingetsu had once asked Izuna out of curiosity what the Pure Land was really like.
For an instant, something strange seemed to cross Izuna's face. After a moment, he gently shook his head, his voice carrying an odd calm:
"The world after death is like a hazy phantom in a dream. Once you wake up, it vanishes without a trace."
"All I remember is that I wanted to keep sleeping there forever."
At that point, Izuna's expression grew almost frightened, and his voice grew softer and softer.
He drew a deep breath, fear churning through his heart like waves.
Izuna clearly remembered how bitterly unwilling he had been before taking his final breath!
Anger and despair had been like an invisible hand clamped around his throat, snuffing out his life with terrifying speed alongside the wound in his abdomen and his empty eye sockets.
Yet even in such agony, he had still harbored endless worry for his brother and his clansmen, fighting desperately to cling to life.
Right up until the moment he truly stopped breathing, Izuna had struggled against death, refusing to surrender. Only one thought had remained in his mind-
Even if I die, I'll crawl back out of hell and return to Madara's side!
But in that so-called Pure Land, he had forgotten all of it and simply slept in peace.
Looking back now, that peaceful, eternal slumber was the true nightmare to Izuna.
While everyone else revered and worshipped the Sage of Six Paths, Izuna felt a measure of horror and disgust toward him. Honestly, watching Madara furiously dig up their ancestor's grave had been immensely satisfying!
"Was it beautiful there?"
Shingetsu asked curiously. Izuna stroked her head and offered only this advice:
"No matter what, waking from a dream is far better than staying asleep."
