"Sasuke, no matter what happens in the future, you have to understand that I'm on your side. Don't ever think you have to shoulder everything alone. If the sky falls, someone taller will hold it up, and I'm that someone-for now."
As Chinatsu spoke earnestly, she raised both hands and brought them down against Sasuke's cheeks with a smack!
In the original story, Sasuke's personality had grown increasingly extreme. In the end, he had even wanted to turn himself into a "god," one whom everyone else could unite against, eliminating conflict and creating a different sort of peace.
But how was that any different from what Nagato Uzumaki and the others had done? Peace born of intimidation and the pressure of danger would only let resentment build up in people's hearts until it eventually erupted.
Besides, Sasuke would have to shoulder those sins and burdens alone, year after year, era after era. How could she, his big sister, possibly accept that?
Right! I absolutely can't leave Sasuke to his own devices!
This hardly counted as distrusting Sasuke. She simply wanted another safeguard. Chinatsu planned to keep a Wood Release Clone active over the long term, secretly protecting him from the shadows.
If things went south, at least she would have a chance to intervene immediately. Maintaining a clone around the clock consumed a lot of chakra, but compared with Sasuke turning dark, that was a drop in the bucket.
Now I can finally rela... No, should I add another precaution?
Chinatsu reached out and patted the back of Sasuke's neck, leaving a discreet Flying Thunder God Mark.
Once a Flying Thunder God Mark was created, it would remain forever unless its creator deliberately removed it. His hair and clothes would also cover that spot, making it difficult to notice.
Perfect!
