After hearing Jiraiya's invitation, Nagato immediately looked toward Konan, who stood quietly nearby.
"Teacher, you've already spoken to Konan, haven't you?"
"Yes!" Jiraiya nodded. "Konan said she'd join the Revolutionary Movement as long as you did!"
"Teacher, I never expected you to join the revolution, given that you're a Konoha ninja."
In truth, Nagato wasn't the only one surprised. Even Orochimaru was somewhat shocked.
He was shocked that Jiraiya, who firmly believed in the will of fire and that supposed prophecy of the Great Toad, would actually join the Revolutionary Movement.
"Heh heh... people change. Besides, I saw hope for genuine peace in red thought!"
"I won't join your Revolutionary Movement. I've already told Uchiha Itachi my reasons!"
Seeing Nagato's reaction, Naruto knew there was no point in simply inviting him! He would have to give him something substantial!
"Nagato, how much do you really know about tailed beasts?"
Naruto's words immediately drew the attention of all three people present.
Seeing this, Naruto continued, "Do you know where the nine tailed beasts came from? Or why they appeared in the shinobi world?"
Naruto's questions immediately stumped Nagato.
He really had never considered those questions. Like other ninja, Nagato merely regarded tailed beasts as powerful weapons, not intelligent living beings!
Orochimaru was very interested in Naruto's questions. He knew Naruto possessed secrets unknown to others.
"What do you mean by that?" Nagato asked with a frown.
"Heh heh... you don't even know the true nature of tailed beasts, yet you want to collect them and create a superweapon capable of deterring the entire shinobi world?"
"So you know?" It wasn't Nagato who asked, but Orochimaru.
Orochimaru could hardly wait to hear Naruto explain the secrets of the tailed beasts! Ignoring Nagato, he jumped straight into the role of prompting him!
