Chapter Summaries

Huiqi helped Anteiku’s ghouls escape Cochlea and confronted Kishou Arima, while Ken Kaneki stayed behind to fight Arima. Furuta Nimura restarted the presses as the ghouls tried to cross them, and Kaneki rose to continue fighting after Arima wounded him.

• Huiqi gave Ken Kaneki Anteiku’s access cards and told him to take the others and leave.
• Kishou Arima defeated Ayato Kirishima, Renji Yomo, and Touka Kirishima, but Huiqi gave them the Red Shield Quinque and challenged Arima.
• Huiqi sent Arima flying with a single attack, then told Kaneki to handle the fight while Anteiku’s people escaped through the presses.
• Furuta Nimura restarted the pressing machinery, crushing many of the ghouls crossing it.
• Kishou Arima overwhelmed Kaneki and aimed the Quinque Owl at his head, but Kaneki formed new limbs with his kagune and rose to fight again.

Furuta Nimura defeated Sen Takatsuki at Cochlea, while Huiqi helped her recover and reported killing the Washuu Family members there. Huiqi then joined Kijima and the others to kill Yoshitoki Washuu and set out to wipe out the rest of the Washuu Family.

• Sen Takatsuki's kakuja destroyed the stamping machinery and killed the Special Class-level V members, but Furuta Nimura crippled her with Rise's kagune and left her dying.
• Huiqi arrived after killing the Washuu Family members in Cochlea, gave Sen Takatsuki blood to help her recover, and sent her to a designated location.
• Yoshitoki Washuu ordered the Cochlea incident concealed from the investigators on Rushima.
• Touka Kirishima and her companions used Huiqi's Red Shield to fend off attacks from Higher Mental Dimension, while Kiyoko Yasuhira failed to reach Huiqi for support.
• Huiqi appeared in Yoshitoki Washuu's office with Kijima, Itori, Uta, and Furuta Nimura disguised as Souta Furuta, then killed Yoshitoki with lightning.

Huiqi and his allies wiped out the Washuu at their compound while battles across Rushima and the CCG exposed more of the Washuu Clan’s secrets. Kishou Arima told Ken Kaneki that investigators from the Sunlit Garden were incomplete half-humans, leaving Ken to confront the truth about the CCG and Rise.

• Huiqi and Father exterminated the Washuu ghouls at the compound, and Kijima took the breeding mothers.
• Seidou Takizawa attacked Houji Kousuke’s squad after Houji ordered an assault on him, leaving Akira Mado as the only survivor.
• Kōtarō Amon arrived and urged Seidou Takizawa to leave with him, but Tōru Mutsuki attacked the Yasuhisa sisters as they tried to escort Akira away.
• Kuki Urie arrived with the Quinx Squad, and Nashiro and Kuro escaped with Akira Mado while Seidou Takizawa and Kōtarō Amon faced the newcomers.
• Kureo Mado shot Yoshitoki Washuu aboard the command ship, but Yoshitoki rose again and revealed his ghoul nature through his rinkaku.
• Kishou Arima told Ken Kaneki that he, Hairu Ihei, Furuta Nimura, and other Sunlit Garden investigators were incomplete half-humans with ghoul blood.

Kishou Arima died after revealing the truth about the Washuu Family and asking Ken Kaneki to become the One-Eyed King. As Huiqi’s plans unfolded and Ken gathered allies, he founded Black Goat to lead the ghouls.

• Kishou Arima told Ken Kaneki that he and Eto had created the One-Eyed King, asked Ken to claim he had killed him, and warned him to avoid Huiqi before dying.
• Take Hirako and Hairu Ihei led Zero Squad in helping Ken escape the CCG, while the CCG eliminated most of Aogiri Tree and learned the Washuu clan had been wiped out.
• Huiqi worked with Akihiro Kano and Souta Furuta on the new QS squad, while he also arranged for Yoshimura Kuzen to wake and reunite with Eto Yoshimura.
• Hairu Ihei joined Ken’s group and explained that she would stay with him and protect him, as Ken prepared to become the One-Eyed King.
• Ken promised the assembled ghouls that he would resolve the threat of Huiqi through dialogue, and he founded a new organization called Black Goat.

After the Washuu leaders died, the CCG failed to settle on a new director, while Furuta Nimura maneuvered to become the sole candidate and coordinated defenses against the Clowns. When the Clowns withdrew from Ward 22, Huiqi turned his Quinque on Ken Kaneki and Black Goat, claiming he was putting on a show.

• Huiqi revealed that the Chief Councilor had recommended Furuta Nimura as director, but the Special Class Investigators ended their meeting without choosing anyone.
• Kuki Urie questioned why Take Hirako and Hairu Ihei had left the CCG, while Furuta met Ken Kaneki and proposed blaming the Washuu massacre on the One-Eyed King.
• After Matsuri Washuu took leave, Furuta became the sole contender for director and assigned Juuzou Suzuya to guard Headquarters as the CCG prepared for the Clowns' attacks.
• Clowns used exploding balloons to injure civilians, while Huiqi's presence stopped their advance in Ward 22 until a flute melody prompted them to withdraw.

• Juuzou Suzuya fought the Clowns at CCG Headquarters, but Uta disguised himself as Yukinori Shinohara and briefly froze him before Hanbei Arawa intervened.

• Huiqi went to Ward 2, where he found Kuki Urie transformed and repeating pleas for help after Father had disappeared.

Furuta Nimura advanced his plan to deploy the Oggai and prepare the Dragon-Subduing Ritual while Ken Kaneki and Touka Kirishima escaped Tōru Mutsuki and grew closer. The chapter ended with Huiqi attending Iwao Kuroiwa’s son’s wedding and showing Yoriko a photograph of Touka.

• Furuta Nimura introduced the Oggai and used Uta’s staged confession to secure support for deploying them, while Huiqi left, believing the Dragon-Subduing Ritual was near.
• Huiqi examined Furuta Nimura’s implanted dormant Dragon cells and sent the Fueguchi Sisters a warning to prepare for a major event.
• Touka Kirishima tried to restore Ken Kaneki’s will, but Tōru Mutsuki attacked them, forcing them to flee the New-Type Quinque Squad.

Black Goat struggled with scarce food and prepared an expedition as Ken Kaneki and Touka Kirishima married, while Huiqi moved between the CCG and Furuta Nimura’s preparations. The chapter ended with Ayato Kirishima discovering that Huiqi had explored the underground before and wondering what role he was playing.

• Furuta Nimura learned Black Goat’s location from Roma and planned to raid its base while Ken Kaneki was away.
• Shuu Tsukiyama caught Hazuki trying to send information, and Hazuki delivered a letter warning Ken Kaneki that Yoriko Kosaka and Takeomi Kuroiwa had been detained.
• Hairu Ihei said Huiqi had assured her that Yoriko Kosaka and Takeomi Kuroiwa were safe, then admitted she knew nothing about the CCG’s plans or Furuta Nimura’s whereabouts.
• Huiqi reassured Iwao Kuroiwa that his son and daughter-in-law were safe, then joined Furuta Nimura and Akihiro Kano to inspect artificial kakuhou experiments ready for deployment.
• Ken Kaneki and Touka Kirishima held their wedding, after which Black Goat planned a food expedition led by Ken Kaneki, Shuu Tsukiyama, Nishio, and Banjo.

Saiko Yonebayashi and Kuki Urie opposed Souta Furuta Washuu while Black Goat and its allies mobilized after Furuta ordered an attack on their base. The fighting left both sides battered, and Ken Kaneki returned to the battlefield as the allied reinforcements advanced toward the main fight.

• Saiko Yonebayashi urged Kuki Urie to help Takeomi and his wife, and Urie comforted her before deciding to seek outside pressure against Souta Furuta Washuu.
• Souta Furuta ordered an assault on Black Goat’s base, and Tōru Mutsuki led the new QS unit in a slaughter while Hairu Ihei and the allied ghouls moved to defend it.
• Ken Kaneki grew uneasy during the food expedition and returned to Black Goat’s base, while Hairu Ihei fought Kuki Urie and overwhelmed the QS unit.
• At the CCG, Huiqi faced Kuki Urie and Iwao Kuroiwa as Furuta Nimura summoned Shikorae and Roma to attack them.
• Juuzou Suzuya’s forces pushed the ghouls back, and Hairu Ihei retreated with Hinami Fueguchi after her Quinque shattered before Ken Kaneki arrived to block their pursuers.
• Eto Yoshimura, Yoshimura Kuzen, Kurona Yasuhisa, Nashiro Yasuhisa, Rize Kamishiro, and Shachi advanced toward the main battlefield after learning the defenders had suffered heavy losses.

Huiqi revealed his plan to eradicate ghouls and manipulated Furuta Nimura into helping Dragon form. After Ken Kaneki transformed into the giant monster, Huiqi threw Furuta into Dragon and prepared to begin the next phase with Akihiro Kano and Jin Toka.

• Huiqi killed Roma and Shikorae with the Holy Spear, which absorbed them and gained golden markings.
• Huiqi declared that he would eradicate ghouls at the source, then left for the Black Goat base as Matsuri Washuu began explaining the Washuu Family's secrets.

Huiqi unleashed the Dragon across Tokyo, then began hunting the Clowns and V while the CCG studied the monster. Akira Mado delivered Huiqi’s research to the CCG, giving them vital information about the Dragon as the search for Ken Kaneki continued.

• Huiqi celebrated the Dragon’s emergence, threatened the arriving group, and told them to find Ken Kaneki and kill Furuta Nimura.
• Akira Mado discovered Huiqi’s handwritten records about her life, Ken Kaneki, and dragonization, then brought the documents to the CCG.
• Huiqi learned from Dr. Jin Toka that making the Dragon recede would take years and that restoring ghouls to humans would require more research.
• Huiqi ordered Hairu Ihei and the Fueguchi Sisters to kill the Clowns, then had Kurona Yasuhisa and Nashiro Yasuhisa kill Itori.
• Huiqi told the assembled ghouls that Ken Kaneki was still alive and explained why he considered the Clowns parasites who should be eliminated.
• Akira Mado delivered Huiqi’s research to Kureo Mado and Kimi Nishino, who recognized that it filled important gaps in the CCG’s Dragon research.

Huiqi restrained Dragon and prepared to eliminate it after Ken Kaneki recovered. After the Holy Spear evolved Huiqi to Dragon-level, he confronted Kijima as the V Organization and Clowns gathered for battle.

• Huiqi used the Holy Spear to restrain Dragon, and Kureo Mado ordered the search for its core to continue.
• Huiqi visited the unconscious Ken Kaneki at the hospital and told the gathered allies he wanted lasting peace and hoped to turn Ghouls into humans.
• Ken Kaneki woke, learned Hideyoshi Nagachika had united the CCG and Black Goat, and joined plans to defeat Furuta Nimura before the toxic gas transformed everyone into Ghouls.
• The Holy Spear absorbed enough energy to evolve Huiqi to Dragon-level, turning his hair golden and granting him strength and a hidden weapon only he could see.
• Kijima led the V Organization against Black Goat and the CCG, but Huiqi killed him with the Holy Spear and ordered the allies to wipe out the V Organization and Clowns.

After defeating Furuta Nimura, Huiqi chose to control Dragon in Ward 24 as a deterrent while humans and ghouls gradually integrated. Years later, he remained there with his companions, but a conscious Dragon Orphan’s plea revealed that the conflict might not be over.

• Huiqi killed Furuta Nimura, stopping Dragon’s growth, and learned the system’s long-term method for turning ghouls into humans.
• Huiqi told the CCG and Black Goat leaders that he would control Dragon as a third force until human-ghoul integration was complete, while the CCG protected the public.
• In the years after the battle, Huiqi stayed in Ward 24 as the CCG became the TSC and worked to defend against Dragon Orphans.
• A human-sized Dragon Orphan reached Huiqi, asked what to do because people outside were hunting its kind, and was sent back down by the Holy Spear.
• Huiqi reflected on the possibility of a race war as his companions continued their peaceful lives around him.

Huiqi struggled to entertain Ichika Kaneki while Ken Kaneki and Touka were away on their honeymoon. After redirecting Ichika to Eto Yoshimura, he became the target of Eto’s and Akira Mado’s retaliation, and the chapter ended with everyone exhausted from soothing Ichika after she tried Mado family spicy food.

• Huiqi asked everyone in the house to play with Ichika, but they all refused or were busy.
• Huiqi sent Ichika to play with Eto Yoshimura, who discovered that Ichika had scribbled on her manuscript and face and attacked Huiqi.
• Eto Yoshimura fought Huiqi after Ichika named him as the one who sent her over.
• Akira Mado threatened Ichika with the Mado family’s ultimate cuisine, and the Manager explained that it was very spicy food.
• Akira Mado gave Ichika the spicy food, and her cries stopped Eto and Huiqi’s brawl.
• Everyone spent hours soothing Ichika, then agreed not to give her extremely spicy food again.
