The woman before them, her face hidden in darkness and her slender, alluring figure clad in a seductive bodysuit, was Viper, the overseer of the Southern Middle Sector of Ward 24's underground levels.
True to her codename, Viper liked to hide in the darkness and deliver a fatal blow when her opponent least expected it.
"These are the new ghouls you brought? They look like they won't last two weeks." She lit a cigarette, immediately noticing the two unmasked Fueguchis trailing behind the group.
"They actually have considerable potential," Yomo said first, wearing his crow mask. "Enough to strengthen the Southern Ward's defenses."
Legend had it that an Underground King lived in the deepest reaches beneath Ward 24. Immensely powerful, he was effectively Ward 24's leader. He allowed powerful ghouls to oversee individual territories, forming small settlements that served as successive defensive lines within the underground labyrinth against CCG searches and attacks from other ghouls.
The Underground King governed much as the overseers of these smaller territories did. He stayed out of infighting between settlements and would only potentially organize a joint defense if the underground fortress came under a large-scale attack.
"To earn that kind of praise from you..." Knowing Yomo's strength well, Viper couldn't help taking another look at Hinami and Ryouko Fueguchi. "You're making me a little worried they might threaten my position."
"All right... Aogiri Tree took a whole bunch of the ghouls here anyway, so there's plenty of space."
