• Kaworu Nagisa spoke with Lilith and used their combined AT Fields to pull the Spear of Longinus from her chest.
• Lilith sank as her AT Field faded, and Kaworu Nagisa flew away with the spear to witness humanity's future.
• SEELE observed that the Impact had not begun and concluded that Kaworu Nagisa had betrayed him.
• SEELE recognized that Shinji Ikari and Unit-01 were close to godhood, though only Shinji seemed to have crossed the threshold.

Ritsuko Akagi discussed SEELE’s knowledge of the Spears of Longinus and revealed humanity’s unfinished Spear of Gaius, while declaring Shinji Ikari their one true god. In Tokyo-3, Shinji faced the descending Yomi-Hirasaka with Unit-01 and prepared to resist it with the Spear of Cassius.

• Ritsuko Akagi told SEELE that Kaworu Nagisa was born to meet Shinji Ikari, then explained that the Spear of Longinus could pierce Armaros’s AT Field but could not destroy the being.
• Ritsuko Akagi showed SEELE the blueprints for the unfinished Spear of Gaius, which was designed to carry humanity’s will without relying on an Angel’s soul.

Asuka, Rei Ayanami, and their allies fought Victor and Torwart in the Underground City while four Angel Vessels joined the battle. The team destroyed one vessel and damaged the others, but Victor and Torwart repaired themselves and charged back into the mêlée.

• Asuka and Rei Ayanami struggled to hold off Victor and Torwart until Miss Soryu, Maki, and the other pilots arrived as reinforcements.

NERV launched the Spear of Longinus at the Ark on the moon in an attempt to disrupt the human extinction plan. Ritsuko revealed to SEELE that Misato’s strategy was to make the cycle’s restart impossible, though she acknowledged that destroying the Ark would only delay the cycle.

• Kaworu emerged in Unit-06 after Yomi-Hirasaka was destroyed and requested permission to begin the second-stage mission.
• Misato approved the plan, and Ritsuko directed Kaworu to use the MAGI support program while Unit-01 stabilized the space around Unit-06.
• Kaworu unleashed Unit-06’s full power and hurled the Spear of Longinus toward the crystalline black cube at the moon’s center, the Ark.

After the Yomi-Hirasaka shattered, black energy vines grew from its fragments and began rebuilding it into a stronger structure. As the fissures in the sky widened and a greater threat stirred beyond them, Misato ordered all combat units to prepare for battle.

Yomotsu Hirasaka expanded into a massive black dome and intercepted the Spear of Longinus before it could reach the moon. Shinji Ikari struck the structure with Unit-01’s Bow of Cassius, but its vines quickly repaired the damage and made the dome grow further.

• Black vines gathered Yomotsu Hirasaka’s scattered rocks into an expanding dome that threatened to engulf Tokyo-3.
• Yomotsu Hirasaka intercepted the Spear of Longinus between Earth and the moon, wrapping it in vines and pinning it to a floating slab.

• NERV ANIMA detected that Yomotsu Hirasaka had accelerated and would reach Earth that day.
• The sky above Hakone cleared, and a vast spatial lens appeared, displaying a black giant fighting near the moon.
• SEELE recognized the giant in the lens as Almaloz and celebrated its arrival.
• Shinji Ikari stopped attacking with Unit-01 as Almaloz rose from beneath the moon's surface.

Shinji Ikari brought Unit-01 to Yomotsu Hirasaka and fought Almaloz to stop him from taking the Spear of Longinus. Unit-01 drove Almaloz back with a surge of soul matter energy, while Kaworu Nagisa moved toward the spear.

• Black crystalline vines transported Almaloz from the moon to Yomotsu Hirasaka, where he prepared to seize the Spear of Longinus.
• Shinji Ikari fused with Unit-01 and teleported it from Earth's atmosphere to confront Almaloz.
• Unit-01 attacked with the Spear of Cassius, and Almaloz countered with black weapons as Kaworu Nagisa headed toward the Spear of Longinus.

Shinji Ikari and Unit-01 fought Almaloz across Yomotsu Hirasaka, but Almaloz drew the realm together and trapped Unit-01 in a cage of black vines and rock. Shinji remained defiant as Almaloz stood over the immobilized EVA and reinforced the restraint.

• Unit-01 and Almaloz traded powerful blows, damaging each other as the Spear of Cassius pierced Almaloz but failed to kill him.
• Shinji prepared another attack, but Almaloz spoke in Shinji’s voice and invoked the rule that the victor took the stage and the loser exited.
• Almaloz used the QR Sigums to draw Yomotsu Hirasaka’s rocks and black vines toward the battlefield.

Almaloz’s fused Pseudo-Spear and the Spear of Longinus pierced Unit-01, triggering a new Impact that transformed Shinji into the Giant of Light. Kaworu destroyed the Lunar Ark with the Divine Spear, sending its information into Shinji before the Impact consumed the Giant and closed the Guf Gate.

• Victor and Torwart offered their Pseudo-Spears to Almaloz, who fused them with his own into a massive black spear and launched it at Unit-01.
• The Spear of Longinus broke free of Yomotsu Hirasaka and struck Unit-01 from behind as the Pseudo-Spear pierced its chest, triggering a new Impact and transforming Shinji into the Giant of Light.
• The Giant’s energy blast swept Almaloz away and shattered his armor, while Kaworu piloted Unit-06 to retrieve the Spear of Longinus.
• Kaworu hurled the Spear of Longinus at the Lunar Ark, destroying it and releasing a flood of information that poured into Shinji.

After Third Impact erased Yomotsu Hirasaka and stabilized the moon’s orbit, Shinji Ikari awakened in the origin of dimensions and learned that he had become a godlike being with the same permissions as God. He chose to return to Earth, where Misato and the others were waiting for him.

• NERV ANIMA confirmed that Yomotsu Hirasaka had vanished, dimensional fluctuations had ended, and the moon had returned to its original orbit.
• Misato realized that Shinji Ikari and Unit-01 were missing after the battle, despite the world apparently being saved.
• Shinji awakened in a white dimensional space and met a figure resembling Yui Ikari, who explained that she was God and the origin of dimensions.

Shinji Ikari returned from the pure-white dimension as a godlike Evangelion and reunited with Yui Ikari, whom he restored to a human body. He returned to NERV ANIMA, erased SEELE, restored Ryoji Kaji, and turned Asuka and Miss Soryu human, leaving the two arguing over their differences.

• Shinji Ikari shaped a new Evangelion body, crossed back into reality, and reunited with Yui Ikari.
