A simple wedding was being held on a vast stretch of grassland.
The happy newlyweds were none other than Kaji and Misato.
Their friends from the EVA Universe had gathered to celebrate their wedding.
"I can't believe Miss Misato is getting married..." Kensuke looked rather forlorn.
Toji, holding Hikari Horaki's hand, comforted him:
"It's okay, Kensuke. You'll definitely find someone someday."
Kensuke glanced around and found himself surrounded by couples:
"Easy for you all to say. ꒦ິ^꒦ິ"
Ritsuko sounded equally disappointed:
"Now I really am the only single one left in my age group..."
Amid the cheerful crowd, Asuka looked at the red carpet on the ground and asked in confusion:
"Why haven't Mr. Kaji and Miss Misato come out yet? It should be time."
Shinji explained, "It must be because Mr. Mirror and the others aren't here yet. Miss Misato did say she hoped to see them at the wedding."
"But they're so busy. Can they really make it?" Asuka was a little doubtful.
She knew that time flowed differently in different universes. Even Zero, with the Paraghi Shield, couldn't guarantee that he would arrive on time.
Behind the scenes, Misato let out a soft sigh in her snow-white wedding dress.
"So they really couldn't make it..."
She thought back to Mirror Knight and Jean-nine.
She had said she wouldn't forgive them if they missed her wedding, but that had only been wishful thinking.
After all, protecting peace in the universe was clearly much more important than attending a wedding.
Dressed in a suit, Kaji said, "It's okay, Misato. I'm sure they're watching from somewhere far away."
"Now, let's not keep everyone waiting."
Misato slipped her arm through Kaji's and nodded gently:
"Let's go together, Kaji."
At that moment, a mysterious figure appeared in a deserted corner of Tokyo-3.
