Background / History
Joining the Shield Hero
Myne initially chose Motoyasu Kitamura’s party, then requested permission to switch to Chuan Wenwu’s after no adventurers volunteered to accompany him. She claimed that the other heroes needed her less and that the Shield Hero’s protection would let her demonstrate her abilities. Motoyasu agreed, but Wenwu remained suspicious of her sudden interest 9.
Introducing herself as Myne Sophia, she offered to explain the unfamiliar world and led Wenwu and Bruce to a weapon shop. She recommended limiting equipment purchases to 250 silver coins from their 800-silver-coin monthly allowance, reserving the remainder for living and travel expenses. When Wenwu bought a Magic Iron Sword, she briefly assumed it was a gift for her before he explained that Bruce would wield it 9 10 11 12.
Monster Hunting and Payment
Myne directed the group toward weak monsters outside the city but stayed in a safe area while Wenwu and Bruce fought Orange Balloons. Although she belonged to the party socially, she was not recognized as a companion by Wenwu’s experience-sharing system. She suggested that recognition might require greater mutual understanding 13.
Her outward encouragement concealed anger at Wenwu’s effective leveling method and friendly relations with the other heroes. After urging him to return at sunset, she sought better equipment at the weapon shop. Wenwu refused because she had not helped fight; instead, he gave her the collected balloon hide as payment for guiding them and promised to cover her meals and lodging 14 15.
Theft and False Accusation
At dinner, Myne tried to persuade Wenwu to drink wine, but he refused. Later that night, Bruce discovered her in Wenwu’s separate room holding his money pouch. Wenwu restrained her, and she retaliated by casting Flame Burst at Bruce. Wenwu deflected the fireball into the wall 16.
When the disturbance drew witnesses, Myne accused Wenwu of attempted rape and claimed he had stolen her pouch to frame her. She also tried to pull at her clothes to manufacture evidence of an assault, which Wenwu stopped in front of the onlookers. After his rebuttal, Motoyasu supported him, and the guards escorted Myne away for investigation 17.
Trial and Royal Identity
Before the court, Myne changed her account: she now claimed Wenwu had been drunk, offered money for sex, and attacked her when she refused. The other heroes confirmed that this differed from her statement at the inn. Wenwu challenged both the drunkenness claim and her changing explanation of the money pouch, which contained more than 540 silver coins 18.
The king revealed that she was Princess Malty S. Melromarc and invoked her rank in defending her. The judge ultimately dismissed the assault charge but expelled Wenwu from the capital and denied him kingdom resources. All three other heroes condemned the king’s treatment of him. Wenwu later told Elhart that Myne had concealed her identity and joined his party to frame him 19 20.
Appearance
- Red hair, described as long during her confrontation with Wenwu 9 16.
- Attractive appearance; Motoyasu initially regarded her as a fairly attractive woman 17.
- Adventuring attire, including leather armor and a shortsword worn at her waist 12 15.
Personality
Myne presents herself as cheerful, approachable, and eager to help. She uses flattery, affectionate expressions, and appeals for sympathy when asking for equipment or encouraging Wenwu to drink. Her private reactions reveal resentment when he prioritizes Bruce, refuses her requests, or succeeds despite the Shield Hero’s limitations 9 12 14 15 16.
When exposed, she abandons her friendly manner for threats and anger, then switches to a tearful performance before witnesses. She repeatedly changes her accusations to counter Wenwu’s rebuttals, including claiming that confusion after a blow to the head explained her inconsistent testimony 16 17 18.
Abilities & Skills

Myne can cast offensive fire magic through a spoken incantation 16.
- Casts quickly enough to finish before Wenwu can prevent her from speaking.

- Her demonstrated attack is aimed at Bruce but deflected into the inn’s wall 16.

Trivia
- An author’s note contrasts this version with the original story: here, Myne fails to steal successfully or build Motoyasu’s trust through stolen gifts, leaving him without the personal attachment that would support her accusation 17.
