Zhong Baiye used a Herrscher of Thunder Trial Card as Ningguang prepared to destroy the Jade Chamber to protect Liyue Harbor. After a strange moment in which time froze, he transformed into a powerful woman and rushed beneath the failing Jade Chamber.

• Ningguang told Zhong Baiye she would make him a member of the Liyue Qixing if he could save the crisis, but he showed off his muscles instead of explaining his plan.
• A Millelith soldier reported that explosives had been installed to destroy the Jade Chamber, and Ningguang told Zhong Baiye and the others to leave.
• As the Jade Chamber groaned above Liyue Harbor, Zhong Baiye activated his Herrscher of Thunder Trial Card.
• Time froze briefly, and an emotionless voice mentioned the 135,749th cycle before the world resumed and lightning struck Zhong Baiye.

Zhong Baiye used the Herrscher of Thunder's power to try to stop the Jade Chamber from falling onto Liyue Harbor. A mysterious katana removed its weight long enough for him to set it down safely, and he collapsed as his trial card expired.

When the Demon God emerged with overwhelming power, Ningguang’s plans and the Millelith’s defenses proved inadequate, leaving the group facing a grave threat.

• Ningguang explained that the Fatui had attacked the Jade Chamber to learn where the Exuvia of the Geo Archon was kept, and that Keqing had betrayed them.
• Ningguang said she had stationed Vision holders at Yujing Terrace and laid traps along the coast, while Zhong Baiye realized the Fatui might flee by sea.
• Ningguang dismissed Zhong Baiye’s warning that the Fatui could release the sealed Demon God, saying she had positioned Guizhong Ballistas along the coast.

• Over a hundred Guizhong Ballistas fired at the blue water columns, triggering explosions and a tsunami that swept toward Liyue Harbor.
• Ningguang recruited Zhong Baiye and Lumine to help defend Liyue, assigning Vision holders to stop the waves while others repaired or guarded the ballistas.

• Tartaglia offered to retreat with the Fatui if Zhong Baiye defeated him, and Zhong Baiye accepted the challenge.
• Ningguang tossed a Mora coin to start the duel, and Zhong Baiye attacked Tartaglia with the Skyward Blade.
• Tartaglia fell after the exchange and was carried away by the Fatui, while Zhong Baiye realized Tartaglia had pretended to lose.

As the Vortex Demon God neared revival, an unidentified person restored and modified the Prototype Guizhong Ballistas, giving Liyue a new chance to fight. Cloud Retainer and the other adepti discovered the ballistas could unleash tremendous power, but they would be usable only once.

• Shenhe froze the tsunami waves while Zhong Baiye found Lumine unconscious and moved her somewhere safe.
• Ningguang reported that a stranger had touched the Prototype Guizhong Ballistas, restoring their adeptal energy, then vanished.
• Cloud Retainer examined the ballistas and found their energy consumption and activation time had been greatly reduced.
• Mountain Shaper and Moon Carver arrived and admired the modified ballistas, while Cloud Retainer explained that they were single-use.
• Cloud Retainer warned that the group had only one chance to seal the Vortex Demon God again.

Zhong Baiye, Ningguang, Shenhe, and the Adepti tried to hold back Osial while the Guizhong Ballistas charged. The attack badly wounded Osial but failed to kill him, and a mysterious observer recorded the experiment as a failure before disappearing.

• Osial fully emerged and threatened to destroy Liyue Harbor unless Morax appeared, while Cloud Retainer ordered the Adepti to prepare the Guizhong Ballistas.
• Zhong Baiye and Ningguang helped Shenhe withstand Osial's tsunami, and Zhong Baiye reinforced the ice wall with Geo constructs.
• Osial's mind-controlling voice began affecting the group, but Zhongli's Sigil of Permission protected Zhong Baiye and those nearby.

• Lumine transformed back to normal while she and Zhong Baiye fell, and Cloud Retainer caught them before they hit the ground.

Zhong Baiye was trapped by Xingqiu, who recruited him to pose as a hero for a new book and insisted he had defeated the Vortex Demon God. After a strange alteration of Xingqiu’s memories, Zhong Baiye left with Primogems and was summoned to Yujing Terrace, where a crowd welcomed him as a hero.

• Zhong Baiye entered the Feiyun Commerce Guild and found himself locked inside an iron cage as Xingqiu introduced himself.
• Xingqiu explained that he was writing a new work about a hero and wanted Zhong Baiye as his model, claiming Zhong Baiye had defeated the Vortex Demon God.
• Zhong Baiye reminded Xingqiu that a white-haired woman had defeated the Vortex Demon God, but time and space seemed to rewind, and Xingqiu insisted Zhong Baiye had fought alone.

Zhong Baiye attended the Rite of Parting after Liyue thanked him for saving the harbor, then learned that Lumine had left for Inazuma and that Keqing had been sent to The Chasm before betraying Liyue. Seeing a blood-red sky and ghostlike forces over The Chasm, he set out there that night.

• Zhong Baiye passed through the injured crowd and joined Ningguang and Liyue's leaders at Yujing Terrace, where they thanked him.
• Ningguang led the Rite of Parting for Rex Lapis, and afterward she questioned Zhong Baiye about the previous day's events.

• Zhong Baiye called for Xiao at Wangshu Inn, and Xiao arrived after fetching Almond Tofu.
• Zhong Baiye asked about the Chasm, and Xiao said it was extremely dangerous and contained the presence of the Abyss.

Along the way, he encountered a surrounded stranger whose masked pursuers appeared hostile, but he realized he could not fight their leader.

• Zhong Baiye discovered the Breakthrough Cube had an extremely small chance of success and could reduce him to ashes if it failed, so he put it back in storage.
• Zhong Baiye found the rest of his system rewards useless, then spent 320 Primogems on two ten-pulls that yielded mostly junk, a Never-Going-Out Flashlight, and a Magic Conch.
• Zhong Baiye decided to wait until he was with Lumine or Keqing before making any more draws.
• Yanxiao packed Zhong Baiye's Golden Shrimp Balls, and Zhong Baiye left Wangshu Inn to search for a way to rescue Keqing.
• Dozens of masked figures in black surrounded a stranger near the inn, and Zhong Baiye realized he could not fight their leader.

Zhong Baiye fought off Keqing and a group of black-clad attackers, then discovered that many of them looked like people from Liyue Harbor. After Keqing vanished, a black substance began consuming the attackers, and Zhong Baiye’s elemental powers could not control it.

• Keqing attacked Zhong Baiye with the Lion's Roar, but he dodged her strikes and tried to flee.
• The black-clad figures surrounded Zhong Baiye, and one of them easily kicked him away when he charged.
• Zhong Baiye threw the Sigil of Permission, whose explosion knocked Keqing unconscious and left the black-clad figures in a crater.
• Zhong Baiye removed the attackers’ masks and recognized Qiqi, Hu Tao, Baizhu, Ningguang, and others, but found that they had no Visions.
• Zhong Baiye found that Keqing had vanished, then discovered the black-clad figures piled in a pit and being eaten away by a black substance.
• Zhong Baiye tried to use elemental powers to remove the substance, but it prevented him from controlling them.

After failing to stop the mysterious black substance from destroying the black-clad attackers, Zhong Baiye sought backup for his investigation. He persuaded Cloud Retainer to arrange for Shenhe to accompany him, and Shenhe soon caught up as he headed toward the Chasm.

• Zhong Baiye tried to remove the black substance with a branch, but it dissolved the branch and then vanished after corroding the black-clad men.
• Unable to identify who created the attackers or explain Keqing’s disappearance, Zhong Baiye decided to recruit help before continuing his investigation.
• Zhong Baiye visited Cloud Retainer on Mt. Aocang and offered her Cola and fries while asking her to accompany him to the Chasm.
• Cloud Retainer refused to go herself, but after Zhong Baiye offered more food, she agreed to work out sending Shenhe with him.
• An hour after Zhong Baiye left Mt. Aocang, Shenhe appeared behind him, reassuring him that he would have a powerful fighter at his side.

Zhong Baiye and Shenhe learned that a dangerous black substance had contaminated The Chasm while men in black prevented help from reaching Liyue Harbor. When the men in black surrounded them, Zhong Baiye waited for Shenhe to attack, but they scattered as soon as she used her talismans.

• Zhong Baiye and Shenhe subdued a group of Treasure Hoarders who blocked their path near The Chasm.
• Zhong Baiye questioned the Treasure Hoarders and learned that a contaminating black substance had made The Chasm dangerous and its monsters violent.
• The Treasure Hoarders revealed that men in black had attacked people sent from The Chasm to request aid in Liyue Harbor.
• Shenhe detected a man in black watching them, and Zhong Baiye decided to wait for their enemies to gather before attacking.
