Vampire Bar

Things went far more smoothly than Yang Bo had imagined. Before long, the three of them arrived at the Vampire Bar.

Blade raised a hand, signaling for Yang Bo and Karen to look at the mark on the bar's outer wall.

"Looks like we've struck a vein. That's a vampire mark!"

Yang Bo, who had been resting with his eyes closed, perked up instantly at Blade's words. His eyes shone as he asked, "A vein? Where's the ore?"

Blade: "..."

"This mark means there's a Safe House nearby, somewhere they can hide when dawn comes!"

Yang Bo looked at the blue building in the distance, and scenes from the movie surfaced in his mind. The difference was that it was still daytime now, and there were no vampires standing outside the bar.

He glanced around. The walls of the filthy alley were plastered with newspapers, which fluttered loose in the wind and drifted to the ground. Thankfully, it was daytime. Had it been night, Yang Bo would have kept expecting a naked Governator to appear at any moment. Mostly, it was because the setting looked far too much like the place where the Terminator first appeared.

Karen, the young Black woman sitting in the back seat, asked, "These vampires just openly run a bar right on the street? This is a nightmare!"

The police car from earlier was parked outside the bar. Hearing Karen's words, Blade opened his door and stepped out. "Today, there'll be something more terrifying than vampires!"

Karen instinctively asked, "What?"

"Me!"

Yang Bo opened his door and got out as well. The reason he had liked Blade before was that the guy acted like showing off was perfectly natural, without the slightest hint of embarrassment.

Seeing the police car parked by the entrance, Yang Bo took out a cigarette and stuck it in his mouth. "Let's go. I'm getting restless!"

Although it was daytime and the bar wasn't open, Yang Bo and Blade weren't there for a drink anyway. Ignoring the suspicious looks from passing pedestrians, Blade took a handgun from his black trench coat and handed it to Karen, saying solemnly, "Remember, mercy toward vampires is cruelty toward yourself. Aim at their heads and pull the trigger. It's that simple!"

Karen hesitantly accepted the handgun Blade offered her, then heard him continue, "Never believe what the movies tell you. Holy water and crosses don't do a damn thing."

Yang Bo objected, "I can't agree with that. I have holy water that can hurt vampires. I just can't take it out right now."

"As for crosses, they work too if you make them out of pure silver!"

Blade turned to look at Yang Bo. His black sunglasses hid his eyes, but his expression conveyed the message clearly.

Were you a professional contrarian in your past life or something?

The wording might have been a little different, but that was the gist of it.

The three arrived at the bar's entrance, but its doors were shut tight. Apparently, it wasn't opening time yet. That was normal. Even if this bar weren't a vampire Safe House, no bar would open in the morning. If one did, forget I said anything.

Yang Bo could clearly see what was happening inside through the thick walls. A large number of vampires had gathered in the bar. None of them were moving, so it seemed they were still resting.

Yang Bo felt his adrenaline surge as he thought:

With this many vampires, even a thirty-percent drop rate should be enough to reach level-two Hunter. Then I'll get two more skills.

At that thought, he turned to Blade beside him. "How about leaving this place to me? I can clear it out slowly on my own!"

Blade took off his sunglasses and tucked them into his coat pocket. "There must be a lot of vampires in here. You can't handle them alone!"

He didn't know Yang Bo could resurrect. Although Yang Bo had some special abilities, his close-combat skills seemed merely average to Blade. He could handle two or three ordinary vampires, but against a dozen or more, he would definitely lose.

Yang Bo sighed, then took a deep drag on his cigarette. "In that case, leave as many vampires as you can for me to deal with. If I go a day without killing a few vampires, I feel uncomfortable all over."

Blade said nothing and simply nodded. He reached out and shoved hard against the bar's doors, his expression souring. They were extremely heavy. Unless he used a car or a bomb, he had no way to get inside.

"Don't worry. We'll go in through the side. I've got a way!"

Yang Bo flashed a charming smile. With his Minecraft abilities, walls, wooden doors, and iron doors were no different from decorations to him.

After checking where the vampires were inside, he led the other two to a spot with none nearby, took out an iron Pickaxe, and struck the bar's blue outer wall.

The iron Pickaxe appearing out of thin air in Yang Bo's hand startled Karen, but she quickly adjusted. Vampires straight out of legend existed, so Yang Bo conjuring a Pickaxe was reasonable enough.

Thud, thud... crash.

As cracks spread across the wall, it simply vanished right before Blade and Karen's eyes.

"Do you have an ability like that too?"

Karen asked Blade curiously.

Looking at the mined-out wall, Blade drew the specially made sword from his back and gave it a flourish. "My ability is sending vampires to hell!"

With that, he took the lead and walked into the bar.

Yang Bo took out his Iron Axe and followed, reminding him as he went, "Blade, don't kill these vampires outright. Just cut off their arms and legs. Leave the rest to me!"

Only a handful of vampires remained in the dark main room, resting on the sofas. They hadn't noticed the three entering at all. With his vampire night vision, Blade paid no mind to the dim surroundings and approached with his sword in hand.

Yang Bo couldn't do the same. In such dim light, he couldn't make out the bar's interior clearly. He could only see the vampires' exact locations, but the bar held more than vampires. Some of their trusted servants were there too, and whatever else could be said about them, they were still human for now.

He took out a torch and stuck it on the wall, illuminating a small patch of their surroundings.

"Blade?!"

One vampire who hadn't fallen asleep heard the footsteps. The moment he opened his eyes, he saw Blade. Worse still, Blade had seen him too.

"Aah..."

Blade's sword rose and fell, severing the vampire's arm and thigh. A piercing scream escaped his mouth, and the entire bar erupted into commotion.

Seeing the vampire screaming on the floor, Yang Bo finally breathed a sigh of relief. He had been worried Blade would kill all these vampires himself. After all, the guy usually killed ordinary vampires in a single blow.

He walked over and drove the slender Stake in his hand into the vampire's body. With one arm and one thigh severed, the vampire's health had already fallen below thirty-five percent, triggering [Basic Use of the Stake] and killing him instantly.
