With the [vampire blood] he had collected this time, Yang Bo approached the Vampire Hunter and opened the level-up interface.

The text on it had changed.

[To train, please submit 2 bottles of vampire blood]

He curled his lip, took two bottles of [vampire blood] from his inventory, and placed them in the slots below.

"Getting to level 2 takes 12 bottles, and level 3 takes 18... Sigh, I've got a long road ahead. I should use the pistol less when killing vampires. It's convenient, but not getting material drops is a problem."

After he submitted 10 bottles of [vampire blood], his Hunter level rose from 2 to 3, bringing Yang Bo's skill points from 0 to 2.

There was currently only one skill tree available, so he did not have to worry about agonizing over his choices.

[Increase Attack Speed] [Camouflage]

The skills were simple and straightforward. After seeing them light up, Yang Bo took his Stake out of his inventory and swung it through the air. He found that the interval between attacks had been reduced by at least half.

"Now this... Leveling up and gaining skills really is the way to go!"

Yang Bo happily put away his Stake. He had no way to test [Camouflage] for now, because even after mentally activating the skill, he could still see himself.

[Camouflage] Allows the user to become invisible to monsters, making the user difficult for them to detect. While the skill is active, the user cannot make melee attacks, break blocks, place blocks, or eat food, but can still make ranged attacks with a mechanical crossbow. Zombies and vampires will detect the player at a distance of around 10 meters. Skeletons and creepers will not detect the player.

"A gentleman can wait ten years for revenge!"

Yang Bo immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Blade's number, muttering, "Too bad I'm no gentleman!"

"Hey, Yang Bo, you got out?"

As soon as the call connected, Blade's voice came through, mixed with the roar of a car engine. Yang Bo frowned and said, "I'm already home. Are you being chased?"

"If you can, come pick me up at Central Park! Same place as before!"

Blade was racing down the street in his car. Hearing Yang Bo's words, he felt as though his brain could not keep up. He had only left the bar a few minutes ago, and now Yang Bo was telling him he had fucking made it from the Bronx to Manhattan and was already back at Central Park.

"Yang, are you sure you're not joking?"

Yang Bo said helplessly, "Why would I joke about something like this? Come get me if you can. If you can't, I'll take a cab over myself!"

"Give me half an hour!"

Blade hung up and gripped the steering wheel with both hands. At the next intersection, he pulled off a slick drift, his tires throwing up thick blue smoke as they scraped across the road, then headed straight toward Manhattan.

Ring, ring...

His phone rang again. Blade glanced at the name on the screen and frowned deeply, his expression darkening, but he still answered.

"Mr. Coulson, what made you think to call me?"

Blade's words were full of mockery. Coulson's genial voice came through the phone.

"Erik, didn't you used to call me Phil?"

"Go on, what is it, Mr. Phil?"

Blade already knew why Coulson was calling, but he wanted to know where S.H.I.E.L.D. stood on the matter.

"Erik, you went too far with the killing this time. Those damned vampires are one thing, but more than a dozen believers died too. As far as the public is concerned, they're ordinary citizens!"

There were plenty of cars on the road, but Blade wove through them like a nimble fish, easily dodging the surrounding traffic as he sped toward Central Park. Hearing Coulson's words, he snapped impatiently:

"What exactly do you want? If that's all, I'm hanging up. I've got things to do!"

"All right!"

There was nothing Coulson could do about Blade's attitude. He understood how Blade felt, too, but as a professional agent, he had to follow his superiors' orders. Sitting in his office with the phone in hand, he asked calmly, "Who was the man with you?"

"I don't know either!"

Blade answered bluntly, pressing down harder on the accelerator. "We've only known each other for two days."

Blade had always had complicated feelings about S.H.I.E.L.D. He was a member of one of its auxiliary teams himself, and S.H.I.E.L.D. had reached an agreement with the vampires. The two sides maintained a kind of balance.

The sound of Coulson tapping his desk came through the phone.

"Tell him to be more careful. Those believers are still human, after all!"

"Phil, I get it! Also, the vampires in New York have already violated the agreement!"

"I know. I'll tell the director. Stay safe. I'll come have a drink with you when I have time!"

The vampires' power was vast and ancient. Compared with those in the United States, the vampires in Europe were the real heavyweights.

Phil hung up after that. Looking at Yang Bo's figure outside the bar on his screen, he smiled faintly.

"Another person with special abilities?"

Half an hour later, Yang Bo spotted a black muscle car speeding toward him in the distance. He waved to catch Blade's attention, and with a screech, the car came to a steady stop in front of him.

He opened the rear door and climbed inside.

"Blade, take me to the building where Frost is."

He sounded almost as though he were joking. "I have a score to settle with him!"

Earlier, he had not even seen the boss before a bunch of small fry who barely qualified as extras had sent him packing. Now that he had two new skills, he was definitely going to get even.

Blade nodded slightly and started the car, heading back toward the Bronx. Neither of them brought up how Yang Bo had returned to Central Park. After all, everyone had their own secrets.

Just as Blade needed serum to suppress his thirst for blood, something he had told no one except Whistler.

"What are you planning to do?"

As he drove, Blade suddenly asked the question. Yang Bo watched the scenery outside the window and replied calmly, "Go there, then kill them. It's that simple!"

"If I can kill one, I'll kill one. If I can kill two, I'll kill two. I can't speak for anywhere else, but I just want the city I live in to be free of those disgusting bastards!"

Hearing Yang Bo's words, Blade broke into a brilliant smile, his white teeth almost gleaming.

"I'm coming with you!"

The two chatted back and forth for quite a while. Because of the vampires, they had grown much closer. Blade's thinking was brutally simple.

As long as you killed vampires, you were his friend.
