The clear sky above the arena was now thick with dark clouds, countless silver dragons churning within them.
Rumble... rumble...
Deep thunder rolled down from above. The spectators in the arena stands had completely lost the urge to cheer. The two fighters going all out had far exceeded anything they had imagined warriors could do.
Hum...
Clark's eyes turned scarlet, and two beams of Heat Vision shot from them, striking the lightning descending from the sky.
Who the hell knew why Heat Vision could collide with lightning? Still, whenever anything about Superman defied logic, you could just blame it all on his biofield.
Lightning flickered in Thor's eyes as he charged at Clark again, electricity dancing over the Thunder Battle Axe.
Thor slammed the hammerhead into Clark's raised forearms. Clark went flying, and the electricity leaping from the axe surged into his body.
Clark felt his body go numb. This was the first time since his powers had awakened that he had felt helpless.
He righted himself, his expression becoming utterly serious.
Clark took a deep breath...
Whoosh... A fierce, freezing wind swept out. Thor's expression grew grave. As an enemy of the Frost Giants, he naturally recognized the effects of plunging temperatures.
He wrapped his body in the power of lightning to keep himself from freezing.
Thor leaped up and charged at Clark again.
Clark was faster. He immediately adjusted his stance and rushed at Thor. Thud, thud, thud... A string of solid blows rang out. Thor could not match Clark in hand-to-hand combat.
A burst of lightning temporarily drove Clark back, and the two fell into another standoff.
"You're strong. Very strong!"
"So are you. You remind me of Hulk, whom I met on my first day here."
"Hulk? Yeah, he's pretty good."
"Keep going?"
"Sure!"
Rumble...
