"Ego?"
Yondu sounded as though he had heard some forbidden name, his voice trembling. "Lady Witch, why would you suddenly bring him up?"
Watching Yondu's expression change in an instant, Hermione's lips curled slightly, a hint of amusement in her smile.
"Did you think I couldn't see that Quill was half Celestial?"
Yondu was startled. She really did know that Quill was Ego's son!
"Don't be nervous. I'm not interested in all that ancient history between you, Quill, and Ego."
Hermione idly toyed with the doll in her hands. "I just want to know where Ego is now."
At those words, Yondu relaxed a little.
Years ago, Ego had hired him to travel to Earth and take away the young Peter Quill.
Back then, Ego had posed as a grieving father searching for his missing son. He paid generously, and nothing about him had seemed amiss.
Who could have imagined that he was a madman who wanted to use his son as fuel to complete his Universal Assimilation Plan?
Only when Yondu saw the heaps of bones in that cave did he realize how cruel and insane that big-headed Ego was. He had killed every one of his children who failed to inherit his bloodline.
So, in a rare moment of compassion, Yondu had refused to hand Quill over to Ego and fled overnight instead.
He would rather let the other Ravagers mistake him for a child trafficker than let that brat Quill learn the truth and meet Ego again.
"Lady Witch..."
He weighed his words.
"Why... are you looking for Ego?" Yondu asked cautiously.
Hermione finally raised her head, a sharp glint flashing in her eyes. "He has something I want."
"But he might not be willing to give it to me, so I'll have to take it myself."
