Before this, Miaomiao had only seen her people paint on mermaid silk with pigments made from plants and minerals, or decorative portraits traded from humans on land. Even the picture in her file had been a screenshot Tim took directly from surveillance footage and imported, so Miaomiao herself had never felt anything special about it.
