Early the next morning, Miaomiao took her supplementary card and left Wayne Manor on her own.
She had talked with Damian about Christmas again the night before and watched some videos about it. Surprise, and knowing your friends well, seemed to be the best things about Christmas gifts.
Yes. Who didn't like receiving gifts? Especially when those gifts came from people you loved, and people who loved you.
And so Miaomiao decided that this time, she would pick out everyone's presents by herself, without bringing anyone else along. She had been to Gotham City a few times, after all, and had gone shopping and eaten out with Damian. She more or less understood how buying things worked.
Just buying presents for everyone should be fine.
With that thought, Miaomiao slung on her little bag, said goodbye to everyone, and set off for the city in a chauffeur-driven car.
Actually, swimming there would have been faster. But while she had a general sense of the direction, the little merfolk couldn't guarantee where she would come ashore. If she ended up somewhere far from the city's shopping centers, that would be even more trouble. All things considered, simply taking the car was the safer bet.
At the window, Bruce stood in his dressing gown, watching the car leave the manor without a word.
"I thought you would at least have one of the young masters accompany Miss Miaomiao, Master Bruce."
Behind him, Butler Batman Alfred's voice rang out.
Bruce turned around, his voice level. "She's more than capable of protecting herself. We can't keep restricting her forever. Besides, we only just announced that the Wayne Family adopted a little girl. If Dick or the others went with Miaomiao, she'd stand out even more. The moment she appeared, countless eyes would be watching
