The Hydra squad leader paused and frowned at the member who had all but sworn an oath, suspicion instantly flickering in his eyes.
He walked over and coldly studied the seemingly unconscious girl. His gaze swept through the vehicle, keenly picking out the empty ice cream bowls in a corner. He whipped his head back toward the girl. A trace of pale cream still clung to her delicate little face, giving off the same vanilla scent as the ice cream bowls.
The squad leader's expression instantly darkened, turning positively thunderous.
It was our fault the dose wasn't enough and you woke up halfway, but wasn't sneaking ice cream in your kidnappers' vehicle a little much? One bowl wasn't enough-you had to eat several! Was that damn ice cream really so good?! And now you're pretending to be unconscious. Do you take us for idiots?!
Furious, the squad leader drew the pistol at his waist and seized her arm with his other hand, roughly hauling her up. "Stop pretending! You've been awake this whole time!"
Miaomiao felt guilty for all of half a second before opening her eyes, her gaze clear and her tone innocent. "Have you considered the possibility that I was never unconscious in the first place?"
"You..."
"Shh-"
Miaomiao held a finger to her lips and said softly, "Nothing went wrong. You succeeded. I'm still unconscious. Continue with your original plan..."
As her ethereal voice rang out, the Hydra members before her suddenly looked dazed for a moment, then quickly regained their original ferocity.
"What are you standing around for?! Hurry up and get her out!"
Watching them return to "normal," Miaomiao gave a sweet, harmless smile and peacefully went back to being "unconscious."
Meanwhile,
