At the girl's suggestive drawl, the corner of Dick's mouth twitched violently. He instinctively raised a hand to cover Miaomiao's mouth.
"You're just a kid! Stop dredging up ancient history! Who taught you to say all this?!"
"Nobody had to." Miaomiao didn't dodge his hand. Her little mouth kept speaking beneath his palm, her muffled words perfectly reasonable. "Uncle Nini complained to Bruce last time that, out of all the kids in the Wayne Family, your love life was the biggest headache. One girlfriend after another, and then you turned around and told all the younger boys and girls on the team they weren't allowed to date..."
"Stop, stop, stop!" Dick sounded righteously indignant despite his guilty conscience. "It's precisely because I'm a guy and I've been through it that I know what those little punks are thinking! Anyway, just because I dated when I was young doesn't mean you're allowed to follow my example!"
"I wasn't following your example in the first place." Miaomiao blinked at him. "I only said Edward looked at me a few times. You're the one who got carried away imagining things."
"...Don't talk back to your big brother."
Realizing he had jumped to the wrong conclusion, Dick stubbornly ruffled Miaomiao's hair and awkwardly changed the subject.
"What were you saying earlier? That incredibly good-looking family had an aura a little like Marijé Brian's, so they might be vampires? Are you sure?"
"I don't know." Miaomiao graciously passed over Dick's less-than-successful lecture on dating and returned to their earlier topic. "It was a little similar, but also very different. At the very least, I couldn't sense any malice or aggression toward other people."
Dick narrowed his eyes, opened his phone, and sent a message before turning back to Miaomiao.
