From that day on, Miaomiao went out much more often, transforming her tail into legs every few days to visit her friends.
The fierce Killer Croc always roared at the girl to never come back or he would eat her, yet every time, he ate every last treat she brought and quietly escorted her home.
The girls' gatherings at Poison Ivy's place gained another member: Selina, the Catwoman, a shapely jewel thief skilled in theft and disguise.
The beautiful thief, who had once been romantically involved with Batman and had even nearly married him, absolutely adored the Little Merfolk. At every gathering, she would hug and fuss over the girl, reluctant to ever let go.
For some reason, though, Miaomiao seemed more fond of the big, seemingly goofy Killer Croc than of the beautiful, alluring Catwoman.
Damian called this a fish's natural aversion to cats.
Wasn't it already a miracle that the little fish and that cat hadn't started fighting? They couldn't ask for more.
That evening, Miaomiao was yawning in the Batcave's underground river as usual, waiting for Bruce and the others to return from patrol, when a shrill alarm suddenly sounded from the Batcomputer. Red light instantly flooded the entire Batcave.
The dozing Miaomiao startled awake, her tail whipping up a huge splash.
"What's wrong? What's wrong? What happened?"
"Batman and the others have run into some trouble."
Tim stared at the computer, his hands tapping constantly at the keyboard, but clearly, remote technical support alone was no longer enough.
"Alfred, sorry to leave this to you. I'm going to help!"
With that, Tim put on his Red Robin domino mask and rushed toward the exit, only for a small hand to catch him.
"Miaomiao, this isn't the time to play. Be good..."
"No, you stay. I'll go!"
