Ririko quickly found Alfred and Victor. Both were barely conscious, apparently lost in some sort of erotic dream.
She punched and kicked them awake, without the slightest courtesy.
Then she grabbed the sleeve of Pamela's dowdy sweater and dragged her to the edge of the lawn outside the Estate.
They passed through the doorways that had been tangled with vines and finally retreated far enough away.
Before she could turn around, a deafening explosion roared through the mansion.
Fire blasted out of the windows and doorways at once, flames churning into the night sky and swallowing the Estate in orange-red light and thick gray smoke.
Watching the magnificent Estate get blown to smithereens, Ririko thought Bruce's way of burning money in a fight was getting more ridiculous by the day.
Alfred wiped the sweat from his temple with a handkerchief and forced himself to remain composed.
"I must arrange new accommodations before the master and mistress return from their business trip to Star City."
Watching the flames lick at the Estate like charcoal in a furnace, Ririko asked Alfred, "Aren't you worried about Bruce?"
Alfred said calmly, "Master Bruce will undoubtedly be fine."
Before he had finished speaking, a dark shape rose from the heart of the blaze.
A flat black aircraft emerged through the smoke and flames. With its wings extended, it resembled a real bat. It circled once through its familiar airspace, then turned and climbed higher into the night sky.
Ririko watched the dark silhouette disappear, then told Victor, "It's over. Let's go."
"What about this woman?"
Victor was supporting the unconscious Pamela.
Ririko answered succinctly, "Give her to Alfred. Were you planning to take her home?"
Without hesitation, Victor shoved Pamela toward Alfred in disgust.
Alfred hurriedly reached out to catch her.
