Of all the dragons, only Myracis seemed to like this wondrous land of the North. The others disliked it, for the energy that occasionally surged here often sent a shiver of alarm through them. Danyla could clearly sense their aversion to the place.
Afraid that Dreamfyre might lose control in the unfamiliar environment and throw Walda off, Danyla moved onto her back to guide her herself.
The North was indeed vast and sparsely populated. They often had to fly for a long time before spotting a village of any size.
Yet across the broad expanse south of Winterfell, though the vegetation was far from lush, the land retained nature's purest, most primal and mysterious beauty. Gently rolling stretches of wild grass and moss covered the slopes, while sparse, low-growing plants clung stubbornly to the barren landscape.
Seen from high above, a vast, dense forest stretching hundreds of kilometers covered the land around Winterfell from southwest to northeast-the Wolfswood.
Looking at the vast and reasonably fertile land before her, Danyla felt her farming instincts begin to awaken again, quite beyond her control.
With properly cultivated seeds, this land could actually produce fairly high yields of barley, oats, sugar beets, soybeans, and other crops. Unfortunately, Danyla had yet to discover high-yield crops such as potatoes and sweet potatoes in this world.
As noon approached, Winterfell finally came into view in the distance. The ancestral castle and seat of power of House Stark, Winterfell was considered the capital of the North. It stood at the heart of the northern Seven Kingdoms, with the Kingsroad connecting it to King's Landing and the Wall.
Looking at the imposing Winterfell in the distance, Walda could not help remarking to Danyla,
